This 1962 Jaguar XKE is a left-hand-drive, flat-floor, welded-louver Series I coupe that was completed on December 8, 1961, and was sold to its first owner in Maine. It remained with him until his death in 1999 and was subsequently moved to Pennsylvania, where it was acquired by the seller from its second owner in 2018. The car is finished in dark green over Suede Green leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 3.8L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Service performed under the seller’s ownership reportedly included the replacement of the brake calipers, radiator, hoses, ignition components, and battery as well as fuel system maintenance. This XKE is now offered with factory books, tools, a Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate, registration documents from previous owners, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in Opalescent Dark Green, the car is said to have been repainted in its current dark green under previous ownership approximately 20 years ago. Features include split chrome bumpers, welded hood louvers, a driver-side mirror, and glass headlight covers.
The 15″ painted wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off spinners are mounted with bias-ply tires. A matching spare wheel is mounted under the rear cargo floor. Replacement rear subframe mounts were installed under the seller’s ownership. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs, and the calipers were reportedly replaced in 2021.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in Suede Green leather with matching door panels and carpets. Textured aluminum trims the dashboard and center console, and features include a dash-mounted compass, Irvin Air Chute lap belts, and a Motorola AM radio that was reportedly installed in February 1962. The dash pad is beginning to separate from the dash according to the seller.
The three-spoke steering wheel features exposed aluminum on the inner rim and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows under 23k miles, 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower. A replacement radiator was installed under the seller’s ownership along with new coolant hoses, ignition points, a condenser, and a battery.
Cylinder head stamping R3104–9 matches the engine block stamping and the Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. The fuel system was serviced under the seller’s ownership.
The Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
