Ebay item 5/3/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-Jaguar-E-Type-FHC-WELDED-LOUVERS-FLAT-FLOORS-NUMBER ...
Car has a buy it now price of $69,500 for 6 days.
Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar E-Type FHC
Chassis Number 885273
Engine Number R3009-9
Built and dispatched in December of 1961, chassis # 885273 left the factory as a black over Red example, retaining flat floors and welded louvers amongs many other early features.
Robert Brown of New Lebanon, OH, took delivery in the beginning of 1962. We are told that he owned the car until 1982 when it was purchased by its most recent owner located in Pennsylvania, then reporting only 37,000 miles. In 1995 the car was delivered to Ragtops and Roadsters of Perkasie PA; then in what we are told to be original condition as a black over red example showing just over 38,000 miles. There it received a complete cosmetic restoration, addressing all interior and exterior aspects of the car. Complete paint and interior were completed to their original colors, along with many minor updates to the mechanical aspects as well. It was finished to a nice driver/show quality level at that time, unfortunately after this point it was seldom driven and often remained in dry storage in the owner's garage under a car cover. We believe there to only be a few hundred miles on the restoration, if that. Overall we understand this car to be very original in many ways beyond the work completed in 1995.
Within the past year the car has come out of long term storage and back to Ragtops and Roadsters for a re-commissioning. During this time the entire front braking system has been completely rebuilt with brake calibers sent to White Post, new lines, pads, and fluid. The carburetors have been completely rebuilt. A new battery and voltage regulator were installed, along with new points, plugs, and condenser. The front torsion bars were also reset, and the fuel drained and fresh gas added. Today it starts easily, runs very well, and handles great. Currently the car shows just over 38,900 miles, which are believed to be original. With the only issue to report being the brakes seem a little soft, in light of the rear brakes possibly needing attention.
Cosmetically this car has aged well to that of a nice driver quality example that still has a deep luster but shows a few minor signs of age. The body is very straight with excellent gaps and door fitment. The rockers are clean and straight and the car has no signs of any rust issues or previous rust issues. There is a small paint crack on the left rear quarter, and a very small dent and crack on the left front fender. Both are very minor and are hardly noticeable. A few chips have been touched up in various spots as well. The glass is excellent and original, and fade/crack free. The rubber is great throughout and in no need of attention, beyond possibly updating the tires for daily use, but perfectly fine for a Sunday drive as-is. The bright work shows well throughout, presentable, with no major flaws. The wheels are painted, which we believe to be factory correct as chrome wires were an option at that time. Overall they do show very well and look very appropriate on this E-type. Throughout the car are many original spot welds and seams, showing this car has never been a rusty example, and has never been in any accidents to the best of our knowledge.
The interior shows very well, with its deep red leather, carpets, and trunk space. Very nice headliner, clean dash, good aluminum center console and dash face. The interior fit and finish is great for an interior kit, and very correct in many ways down to correct carpets and Connolly leather. Unfortunately the center console where the radio/speakers are usually found is missing on this example, and we are told they have been since before 1982. All gauges, lights, switches, knobs and pulls work exactly as they should with no known issues in any of the electronics. The car consistently shows 60 pounds + of oil pressure when warm under revs and about 45 pounds at idle when hot; holding great temperature, never exceeding 70 degrees C at the most. The fuel level seems very accurate and the voltage meter works as it should. The steering wheel is the correct and more desirable thicker brimmed wheel in excellent condition. The spare wheel well shows a correct spare, and underneath an original wheel well with no current or previous rust issues, and still retaining an original sticker and other items.
Mechanically this E-type performs very well with strong power through the rev range and shifts well for an early gearbox. Handling is responsive and does well during spirited driving. The engine is smooth, the clutch works well and everything seems to be in proper working order. The only complaint would be a slight shimmy in the steering wheel approaching 70 mph that seems to come and go. Very minor but something that should be disclosed. The engine bay shows as a driver, mostly original, tidy, and functional without any real complaints.
Overall, we are very impressed, and also very proud. Offering such an exceptionally well ordered early FHC with welded louvers, flat floors, and the best possible colors is a rare opportunity for LBI. It is also a rare opportunity for any enthusiast, collector or restorer looking for a sensible investment and a great turnkey numbers matching example (as verified by the Trust Certificate) of the timeless E-type Jaguar. With great history and options, we offer this car complete with all service history, restoration history, two manuals, and a spare.

Hi there -
I just downloaded a recent photo of my Jag.
Could you replace the one above with the one I just uploaded?
I really don't like how it is depicted before the ribbed wall.
Thanks so much!
