Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the 'E' type caused a sensation and orders piled in to the Browns Lane factory. Unfortunately supply was slow, which only heightened the desire to own one, and you really had to be someone special to obtain one of the early cars.
This original left hand drive flat floor example was the 259th example off the production line and returrned from America in 1989. It was completely restored and converted to right hand drive at that time and the work encompassed the bodywork, a complete retrim in tan hide, a full re-wire and a chassis and running gear overhaul. It changed hands in 1992 and the engine was rebuilt by Harwoods of Sussex and this represents a rare opportunity to acquire a virtually concours example of a rare and early 'E' type with the immortal 3.8 XK engine.
