Car was in my possession until 1997 and there was little welding necessary. My successor replaced e.g. the left rocker panel and the lower tube of the left engine frame.

In addition, it is a lie, that this body colour was unique to the exhibition in New York 1961. This colour was rare but available and applied on several cars at least from 1961 and I think also within 1962 if not even further.

But I saw it once the restoration was finished. And this car was really stunning!

I found the original body tag from this car - reading V 1282 (still in cream colour - but unfortunately a bit damaged on both ends due to grinding it out).  

I owned that car until 1997 and took it out as it was not matching with the VIN plate. Back at these days it was not transparent, that there have been multiple deviations between body tag no in the trunk and on the VIN-plate of the engine compartment. This counts at least for the early cars.

Immaculate Jaguar E-Type 1961 Flat Floor. Matching numbers car with Jaguar heritage certificate. Number 231 of 398 made in 1961 and 500 in total. Registered in France. New technical inspection in April 2022 valid for 5 years because the car is registered as a collector's car.

My private ownership since 2015. The car was completely renovated in Germany in 2009. In perfect overall condition.
