This 1964 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the seller in 1997, and it is finished in Opalescent Dark Green over Suede Green leather. Power is supplied by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black soft top, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with spare parts and a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is finished in Opalescent Dark Green, and additional equipment includes a black soft top, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. There is corrosion on the underside of the front valance, and fading, chips, and blemishes are visible throughout the body.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 185HR15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Suede Green leather along with color-coordinated door panels and lighter green carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, lap belts, a sliding rearview mirror, and a heater. The dash lights and AM radio are inoperative. Wear on the seats and a crack in the dash are visible.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 6,800 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The speedometer angle drive was replaced in August 2020.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The carburetors were rebuilt in 2015, while more recent work in 2024 consisted of replacing the ignition coil, points, distributor rotor, and condenser.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The exhaust resonators were replaced in 2020.
