    Car listed on EBay:

    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

With zero bids the starting price is US $60,000.00 (Reserve not met)

This thoroughly pampered, intelligent convertible. 1964 Jaguar XKE Roadster dazzles the eye with gem-like, boot-to-bonnet Carmen-Red paint, enhanced by perfect chrome detailing and buttery tan leather interior. Tan convertible top completes the vintage look of the 1964 and 1965 original specification 2-door Jaguar E-Types. Discovered in Pennsylvania, and utterly restored with OEM parts in 2001 by a prominent Chicago-area classic and exotic sports car restorer, this stunner can rival any comparable show vehicle.

I have thoroughly enjoyed facilitating the evolution of this roadster, investing over $65,000.00 in its restoration. When I first viewed it--partially restored--its clean strong, original V-6 engine was its most promising feature. As an avid fan of the Jaguar XKE, and as a collector of several unusual and collectible cars, I had always hoped to restore and own one of the last 3.8 liter Jaguars made. This car did not disappoint, shifting from subdued purr to instantaneous roar. Since its restoration, it has displayed all the power of the E-type, without any of the difficulties in driving, dragging, smoking, or pulling that some of these vintage vehicles display. All mechanical components are in flawless working order, with the exception of the tachometer, which is temperamental. Odometer is clean, with 68,000 original miles. Runs smooth, quick and exciting. The only mechanical deviation from the standard spec was my decision (during the restoration process) to replace the radiator with an aftermarket upgrade as insurance against the tendencies of these engines to run slightly hot.

As it was restored in 2001, from a cosmetic standpoint (save for a few very tiny paint chips on the inside door corners) it is absolutely flawless. There is no rust, corrosion, or fading to detract from its appearance. Garage kept, extremely clean, well-groomemc No tobacco or chemical smells. No tears, wear, stains, or other upholstery damage. Perfect dash, leather seats, blackwall tires, and manual shifter. Chrome Wire mesh wheel covers. Too many gorgeous details to list here. Please take time to read standard descriptors and view all photos. This is a unique opportunity to own (or study) a perfectly restored 1964 XKE.

History buffs can rest assured regarding this vehicle. I have matching documentation, both photographic and written, from every stage of ownership and restoration: I have all original photos, all original receipts, all restorer's notes and estimates, and complete, original Jaguar Driver's Handbook and Spare Parts Catalogue. Title is clean and in my possession for quick sale. This vehicle has had only two owners, including myself.

I am open to any questions you may have. Please e-mamc me or telephone me as provided in the listing. We can arrange a personal viewing, test drive, or mechanical examination, at any time before the close of the auction. My wife and I have enjoyed perfecting, driving, and showing this romantic car. We are selling to make room for other restoration projects and toys, and hope only to find a like-minded enthusiast to write the next chapter of its Carmen-Red history. Reserve price is extremely reasonable, as vehicles in this condition easily sell for 100K or more. Let's talk!

    Car now offered at:
    stlouiscarmuseum.com/inventory/listing/1964-jaguar-xke-series-i-e-type-roadster/

    Seller's description:
The St. Louis Car Museum is very proud to offer this wonderfully restored 1964 Jaguar XKE 3.8 Series I Roadster. The entire body and forward chassis were repainted to Carmen Red. The Biscuit Tan leather interior is new with a matching Tan canvas soft top and boot cover. All the exterior chrome was refinished and all weather stripping and window rubber replaced with new. Features include telescoping steering column, Smiths instrumentation, heat/defrost, chrome Talbot mirror, and added seatbelts for safety.

The interior was restored to new at the same time as the exterior about 15 years ago. The dash and sport seats were stripped and professionally reupholstered in respective vinyl and leather, the switches cleansed and polished, all six gauges were tested or rebuilt for proper function, fresh interior carpets, center console with radio deleted, original wood steering wheel, and all new wiring harnesses throughout (main, bonnet, dash, and rear)! The entire braking system was refurbished with stainless steel sleeved Dunlop brake calipers, new rotors, brake pads, and wheel bearings. The suspension received new upper & lower ball joints, front Boge shocks, and heavy-duty rear springs with Woodhead shocks (4). The 72-spoke chrome wire wheels wrapped in Vredstein 185SR15 Sprint ST Radial tires. All body and suspension bushing were replaced and the steering rack and column were rebuilt. And finished with the superb sound of a correct quad chamber exhaust system with chrome tips!

More recently in May 2017, a comprehensive rebuild to the engine was completed by H.D Rogers & Sons in Bossier City, Louisiana. The started by reconditioning the original, number's matching block, head, and crank. The block and head were dipped, honed and bored. New main bearings & rod bearings (both .020), new standard pistons, grind & balanced crank, wrist pin bushings, upper & lower timing chains all installed, fresh head & pan gaskets. The original triple SU carburetors were rebuilt and polished with new Grose needles and fuel lines, polished the intake manifold, re-cored the radiator, new water pump, cleaned fuel tank, and rebuilt Lucas generator with new brushes. NGK spark plugs, Champion wires, points, condenser, and Lucas Gold coil complete the ignition. The exhaust manifolds were porcelain coated. The original 4-speed gearbox has remained quite tight, so it received a new clutch and fresh hydraulic fluid.

It is truly a very sharp example, even with a now approximately 15-year-old cosmetic restoration! The current odometer reading is only 65,836 miles! This early E-type needs nothing to be enjoyed right away! Make no mistake; restoring a car to this degree is growing increasingly expensive to complete these days. This is a chance to own a car restored with brilliant, show quality results at a fraction of those costs.
