Seller's description :
This early Series1 OTS, after rolling off the production line on the 23rd February 1963 found its way to its first customer when supplied by Jaguar Cars in New York just a week later. This is a 3.8 litre E-Type, in other words under the bonnet a very mighty six-cylinder 3.8 litre with triple SU carburettors. An output of 265 hp gives a top speed of a very respectable 241 km/hr. Even more remarkable is the supple manner in which the engine acquits itself. A joy to travel in especially with the top down. The sound, the wind and acceleration: eyes and ears caressed and goosebumps the moment you put your right foot down. All its power transferred to the rear wheels by a manual 4-speed gearbox, delightful!
The fine red paintwork is thanks to an older restoration. American climes provided practically rust-free bodywork. Even so the car underwent the most thorough of restorations, including a total mechanical rebuild of engine, transmission, brakes and suspension. As a result this Jag drives a treat. Whilst we would advise to keep this car in its current excellent condition, one thing we believe is even more important is to enjoy every moment behind the wheel.
The black upholstered interior is in a very healthy state. The many gauges and switching gear all work as intended. Only the somewhat modern car radio is out of place, but that is easily remedied.
As so often with this class of classic car, it has been treated with due respect since being restored. This E-Type has definitely been used, which as you will appreciate is a positive thing. All this amounts to the lucky new owner only having to turn the key to unleash this English power plant before blissfully setting off!
