Completed at Jaguar’s famous Browns Lane, Coventry plant in January 1964, this striking Series 1 Roadster is believed to have had only two owners prior to 2005, when it was bought by a New Jersey-based Jaguar enthusiast. In September 2009, a restoration was commissioned. The car is believed to have been a solid and well-kept car but required some cosmetic and mechanical overhauling. Larry Comerford’s Manville, New Jersey- based restoration house Foreign Specialties, who specialized in European sports cars, was entrusted to carry out the work.

Mr. Comerford disassembled the car and then sandblasted and refinished the frame and suspension components. The bodywork was treated to a fresh paint job, applied with the utmost care. New rubber grommets, seals and gaskets were installed and the brightwork was redone where needed. The carburetor, brakes and suspension were rebuilt and the valves were adjusted. The electrical system was rewired as necessary and the electrical components were tested thoroughly. Completed in early March 2010, the car was shown at the 2010 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and at the 2010 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance where Mr. Comerford’s precise work resulted in a class win for Best English Sports Car 1956–1964.

The stunning combination of Opalescent Silver Gray over red hides, a black soft top and period-correct whitewall tires, suits the svelte and full-flowing forms of the Jaguar perfectly. The chrome wire-wheels and Lucas racing mirrors give the car just the right amount of sparkle. Inside the cockpit, one finds a period radio finishing off the fully upholstered interior. This early E-Type Roadster is a matching-numbers example whose meticulous cosmetic presentation provides a superb aesthetic complement to its prodigious mechanical capabilities. Prepared for either spirited jaunts or competitive presentation, this Series 1 Roadster offers the purest essence of 1960s British motoring, and is a perfect addition to any collection.

I have a 1970 e-type with the same car #!! I have owned this car since 1987. It's been off the road since about 2004. The plate has the same engine # but has a different engine in the car.

This highly desirable series one 3.8 roadster is finished in Opalescent Silver Gray over red hides, a black soft top and period-correct whitewall tires, Chrome wire-wheels, Lucas racing mirrors are fitted and its period radio is supplied with the car, currently it is fitted with a modern CD/radio.
