Ebay item 12/17/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $21,101.00 (Reserve not met), 8 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This great-looking Jaguar has just undergone a thorough $ 8,000.00 mechanical check-up where everything necessary to bring it into top running condition was done. A five-page copy of the invoice can be faxed to serious bidders upon request. Accordingly, the car performs beautifully as a Series 1 3.8-litre should. It is 'numbers matching', except for the gearbox which has been replaced with a full-synchro unit as used in the 4.2-litre cars. It rides on four Vredestein 'Sprint Classic' tires, two of which are brand new.

The car is rust-free, one of the jobs recently done being the replacement of the footwell on the driver's side, the only rust repair necessary. The paint is in very good condition except for a crack in the center of the scuttle between the windscreen and the hood and some slight cracking on the passenger door under the chrome trim. All chrome is excellent. The upholstery is blemish-free, except for the usual area on the left of the driver's seat where some piping is coming adrift. The convertible top is Haartz-type fabric, a considerable improvement on the standard top. The car comes with a workshop manual, original handbook, a file of service receipts and a photographic record of a restoration done about 12 years ago.

This good looking, highly desirable early XKE is in 'excellent driver' condition and could be driven with confidence for some time before getting round to its minor cosmetic needs.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
