Manufactured on 3rd July 1963, left hand drive chassis number 879769 was dispatched to famous German dealer and racer, Peter Lindner. The E Type found its way home to the UK in the 1980s before undergoing meticulous restoration and conversion work by a renowned marque specialist who uprated almost every aspect of the car to ensure that it would be a most competitive example.
Finished in Siver with a works type hardtop and complimentary silver peg drive alloy wheels. The interior features a full roll cage and competition bucket seats. No aspect of the car was disregarded during restoration with the car being stripped to its bare shell. Works completed in 1996 and are estimated to have cost £100,000, invoices and photographic record are on file.
The car raced for five years from 1996 to 2001, before being put up for auction in December 2001. The purchaser loved Historic GT and Lightweight E Types. He never raced the car, as he did not have a race licence, the car was used for track and test days to assess improvements and included changes to the exhaust to comply with noise regulations.
In 2011 the E Type was made road legal and registered with the DVLA to gain historic classic car status. The car passed its MoT in 2011 but the owner then purchased a car trailer and he decided not to continue with MoTs. An engineer by trade, he spent hours improving the car to keep it in perfect running order.
Our E Type is perfect for historic club racing and rally events, a wonderful purchase for the lover of Historic GT cars.
