Car to be at auction 6/13
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Note: the "JE3" prefix shown in the auction description is most certainly a misread. California registered E-types of the era had a "J" (Jaguar) plus the model year "63" so surely the prefix is J63. Making the car not a '62 but a '63 which is aligned better with other cars near this VIN.
Auction description:
Lot 149 - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
149 - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
Estimate: £37,000 - £45,000
Registration Number: EU taxes paid
Chassis Number: JE3878813
This particular example has recently been repatriated back to European shores after spending its life in the sunny states of California. The vendor informs us this example was always garaged and never used as primary transportation- as testament to the quality of the bodywork.
Finished in its original and highly sort after shade of opalescent sand, with black interior , this rare and early matching number 3.8 convertible E-type is offered with a current MoT and UK V5 documentation.
An opportunity to acquire what must be the only 3.8 E-type series one offered 'the right side' of £50,000. Not to be missed.

Car would have been built late December 1962 if genuinely a 62 car. According to auction catalogue: "This particular example has recently been repatriated back to European shores after spending its life in the sunny states of California.
