This 1963 Jaguar XKE roadster is a project car that has been off of the road for the past 30 years. Reportedly sold new in California, it previously resided in Washington State before being relocated to Mississippi in 2014. A refurbishment begun in the 1980s involved repowering the car with a Ford V8, which has been replaced in more recent years by the current owner with a rebuilt 3.8-liter inline-six and reconditioned 4-speed manual full-synchro gearbox. An included parts inventory contains a new convertible top, reupholstered biscuit leather interior, replated or powder coating exterior fittings, a new windshield and much more. This Series I XKE is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with records from the last year, the original ID plates, California tag, and a clean Mississippi title in the owner’s name. The 3.8-liter inline-six originated from a Mark X sedan and features a 9:1 compression ratio. The engine comes paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox sourced from a donor 4.2-liter car, both of which were rebuilt by BMC Restorations. New engine side frames were sourced from Martin Robey, and new transmission tunnel sections to facilitate the swap back to the Jaguar engine were purchased from Monocoque Metalworks. The seller also sourced a correct E-Type intake system, oil pan, distributor, and an aluminum radiator. Items known to be missing include one engine compartment aluminum under panel, the engine compartment section of the wiring harness, hoses, belts, plug wires, and a generator or alternator, depending on the buyer’s choice. Receipts and records from the previous year’s work are included in the sale.
