Due to our surplus inventory of restorable core XKE's, we have decided to offer this Jaguar for sale on this auction. Classic Showcase purchased this E-Type with complete restoration in mind. But with our restoration schedule on our own vehicles, we would not be able to get to it for several years. This XKE is an unmolested specimen and is a good core vehicle for restoration due to it's condition and originality. You can restore this vehicle yourself or Classic Showcase can restore it for you. You could also put this E-Type back on the road without a great deal of expense.

Restoration Project

A great restoration candidate, this covered headlight roadster can easily be a driver once the brakes are serviced. This is a great roadster to restore and upgrade as you drive and enjoy. It was a California car in its early life, and has a California vehicle inspection certificate sticker on the windshield from December 1975. We recommend having the Jaguar serviced before putting it on the highway because it has spent time in storage.

Mechanical

The exhaust system works well, but is not stock. To bring the car to the next level, the system from the down pipes should be replaced with proper parts. Brakes need immediate attention before driving this vehicle on the highway. The Jaguar has a new heater tank, radiator recore, hoses, and battery.

Body and Interior

AM period radio, has 4.2 seats for comfort, two bullet mirrors on the bonnet. The Jaguar's steering wheel needs restoration, also needs a complete interior restoration: including seats, panels and convertible top. The turn signal lever works well, and does not have the proper handle. After market speakers are mounted in radio console. The ID panel that should be installed under the dash is missing. There is some body work necessary and a new paint job would make it real nice. The original color of the car is gun metal gray.

Several years ago Classic Showcase completed a restoration of this beautiful matching numbers XKE Roadster. Included in this restoration, the car was disassembled, metal worked, fitted, sealed, primered, painted, color sanded and buffed to perfection. Body parts were fitted and painted individually off the car. The engine, transmission, suspension and many systems were re-built or restored as needed, brite work, upholstery, rubber seals and new convertible top were installed. When Classic Showcase performed the restoration for the previous owner, the customer requested the car to be more comfortable. Per his request the interior was upgraded with a later Series I console, armrest and seats for improved comfort. For the Jaguar purist we can easily convert the interior back to the original Series I specification for an additional fee. We have recently performed updates and services to this XKE as needed to bring it back to its enhanced condition and are pleased to have been given the opportunity to offer this vehicle once again. This Jaguar is a 1963 Jaguar E-type S1 3.8 drop head coupé finished in opalescent silver grey

Coming from California this Jaguar has benefited of a complete and perfect restoration both

except the high compression pistons, the special camshafts and a careful balancing. All this
