Car to be at auction in France 11/17
www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp

Auction description:
Lot 9
French registration
Chassis # 877621

- First series with aluminum dashboard
- Equipped with a synchromesh 'box
- Many recent charges

The model on offer rolled out of the manufacturing line on June 28, 1962, and was delivered to the New York distributor on July 9, and sold to its first owner the same year. This is the 3.8L version with the synchromesh transmission of the 4.2L, which is much more pleasant to use on an everyday basis. Its block is no longer the original one, but it has retained its head. We would like to point out that the expression 'matching numbers' is somewhat distorted, and it is not unusual for a 1962 model to have received a new block in its life. The car's current owner bought it in Canada, imported the car and carried out several detail improvement: the paint has been redone, the mechanicals revised in depth to make it a good roadworthy car. It is now in a very beautiful cosmetic state: the leather interior is in a superb state, as well as the carpets. The superb aluminum dashboard, characteristic of the first models, is not defective either. A test in Paris showed that the car does not overheat and that its six- cylinder engine runs brilliantly well. The electricals seem to be original, and all the electrical elements work fine. Invoices of all recent jobs will be provided to the future owner.
It is a beautiful example of this really mythical model, equipped with the synchromesh 'box, which would allow enthusiasts to appreciate all of the car's many qualities in absolute comfort.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
