This 1962 Jaguar XKE Roadster was delivered new to its first owner in Canada finished in Opalescent Silver over a light blue interior. Prior to the seller's acquisition earlier this year it resided partially-disassembled, stored outside, and covered by a tarp in a backyard in Winnipeg for an unknown period of time. Both the included 3.8-liter inline-six and the accompanying 4-speed gearbox are numbers-matching units. The front suspension is currently removed and in pieces, and a list of parts known to be missing has been provided below. This Series I XKE project is now being offered with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and a clear Manitoba registration.
Corrosion is present throughout the body shell and evidence of prior accident damage is visible around the nose. A set of trim rings and plexiglass headlight covers for the bonnet are included with the car, as well as a soft top frame.
The following parts are known to be missing.
Front and rear bumpers
Steering Wheel
Passenger seat
Front Wheels
Rearview Mirror
Centre Console
Radio console frame and ashtray
Radiator and header tank
Intake manifold
Carburetors and some of its links
Air intake Box assembly
Air filter casing assembly
Exhaust system
The 3.8-liter inline-six and 4-speed gearbox are currently separated and partially disassembled. A pressure test was conducted on the block by the seller's mechanic and no cracks or leaks were discovered.
Engine block #R 6148-9 is confirmed original by the included Jaguar Heritage certificate. Matching gearbox stamping #EB 5355 JS
The Jaguar Heritage Certificate shows a production date of June 20, 1962, and confirms the original drivetrain and configuration. No front wheels are included the car and front suspension is currently disassembled, so arrangements for moving the body shell will be required.
