Ebay item 3/14/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-OTS-1962-Jaguar-XKE-Series-1-OTS- ...
Current bid $45,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction. Complete VIN on this car is J62877438. Mileage 67k.
Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar Series 1 OTS – Factory Hardtop.
I acquired this car from the original owner. It was bought from Long Beach Jaguar July 31, 1962. The original 1962 DMV paperwork comes with this car. This car has always been in Southern California. The body has zero rust or corrosion anywhere. This car had been sitting on 4 flat tires in a garage in San Diego since 1980 when I got it. The owner lost 1 of the knockoff nuts and there she sat for 30 years.
This Jaguar came from the factory with the removable Jaguar hardtop only. There is no soft top. The rear plexiglass on the hardtop is clouded with age but is still clear enough to see thru from inside the car.
This car is very original. The owner told me that the engine or transmission has never been out or apart on this car. I have tried to keep it as original and un-restored as possible.
Here are the numbers on the ID plate. Car # 887438--- Engine# R5861-9 Body# R4013 ---Gearbox# EB5017JS ---- The small plate # is J62 . The head # is R5861-9
Here is what I did to bring it back to roadworthiness.
4 new knockoff nuts from Moss Motors The owner lost 1.
4 new Tubes, Liners and Original size Red Line Tires from Coker. Rebuilt clutch Master and slave cylinders. Rebuilt the brake system. Carburetors rebuilt by British Heritage Motor sports of El Cajon. New water pump, New hoses, recored the original radiator. New fuel pump. Changed all fluids.
The original bumpers have been rechromed – They were pitted pretty badly.
Car was repainted to original Jaguar Gunmetal Grey by Wes Neely paintworks. The original paint was just too faded to bring back.
All electrical components work properly. All gauges work except the tach. The tach is good but the engine tach generator is not functioning.
This car runs smoothly thru all the gears. The tranny shifts clean and is quiet. The car tracts dead straight on the open road and is a joy to drive. I have put about 500 miles on the car since I have owned it. It is currently registered and insured in California.
This vehicle is 48 years old. There are no warranties or guarantee associated with this sale.
This car is located in Imperial Beach CA.
