On eBay, 5/2008.
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-3-8L-XKE-Series-I-4-Speed-Convert ...
Seller's description:
" Monaco Luxury is proud to introduce this classic Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster to eBay Motors. When the Jaguar XKE was introduced to America in early 1961, the automotive world stood still. At that time, the British were best known as the producers of well-trimmed, solidly built motorcars of more than moderate performance. Cars that were steeped in long forgotten, Old World qualities, like hand built wood framed bodies, leather seating and the baffling mechanical idiosyncrasies that go along with cottage industry production techniques. The E-Type catapulted the British from being quaint historians and purveyors of the past, to the cutting edge of production sports car design. First seen in magazines and on turntables at international motoring shows, the sensational E-Type, with its long, low profile, pointed nose, glass enclosed headlamps and short, tapering tail, set the pace for sports car styling and design for the next two decades.
Not only is this gorgeous XKE Roadster great to look at, but it is also blast to drive! When this Jaguar arrived last month the carpet, trunk mat and convertible top were all replaced. Our future plans include a complete engine rebuild and new paint. If no one wisely takes advantage of the very low reserve on this auction we will complete the restoration and offer the XKE later this year with a 6 figure price tag. Don't let this highly collectible and fun to drive Roadster pass you by! We can gladly assist with accessories, financing and shipping arrangements if needed."

Just stumbled on this site and I LOVE IT! I even found one of my XKEs. As promised in my previous description, a complete frame off restoration was completed between May-Nov. 2008. We originally hadn't planned on spending a fortune on this XKE..... but we did anyways! With low original miles, we figured this numbers matching flat-floor roadster deserved more than just a rebuilt engine and new paint. Look for this Jaguar to be featured on eBay and other venues in the very near future and call me any time if you want more info on this beauty. Brian (832)606-9952

I wonder if the car for sale at Coys is really 876963.
This car is claimed by Coys to be a flat floor, which don't match to the VIN.

Daniel, take a look at 876985, made the same week and a later car. Those floor mats and the side view look like flat floors to me.....

John, it is admitted that last LHD flat floor roadster was #876581 (according to 1963 factory parts catalog, last flat floor would even be #876381).
So 876985 is at least 404 cars later.

Daniel, did you read the comments under 876581? Thoughts on 876985 ?
It is possible, ... that this car 876963 although 400 cars later is a flat floor original.
Who knows why the body hung around for 6 weeks until March before being finished?

Hello John,
Nice to read you again.
Yes I did read the comments about 876581 and looked at 876985.
876985 has indeed flat looking floors, but without taking a close look at the underbody, it's not possible to assert that it's original.
It could be a poor welding job or a mix between a real flat floor body and a later front frame, both coming from different cars (look at the VIN plate which is brand new !)
Look on your turn at 876984 : it's not a flat floor.
And so are #876607, 876615, 876624, 876632, 876639...
I admit that some flat floors may have VIN numbers above 876581 (so is looking #876583 for example, but one more time, not shure it's original), but I believe it concerns only a few cars.
Best regards

Car is for sale at Rétromobile Paris 2017.
Still claimed as a flat floor, although VIN # doesn't match (but floor is even so like factory flat one).
May have been converted to flat floors at one time or another.

Car now offered at:
www.autoscout24.fr/offres/jaguar-e-type-essence-noir-294faff3-cdf8-4d9e-9433-2bd ...
Seller's description:
Our Jaguar Type E Roadster is one of the rare so-called "flat floor" examples, specific to the first examples produced. In keeping with the first series, this example features the sumptuous 3.8-litre XK six-cylinder powered by its three S.U. Completed on March 22, 1962 in a black dress and red interior, this "Flat Floor" Roadster was imported to the United States by Jaguar Cars of New York. From there it was delivered to its first owner, Mr. Hallock residing in Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania. Registered for the first time on July 22, 1962, this example remained on American soil until 2012, when it headed for France via Holland. Partially restored before its importation, the chassis numbered 876963 will undergo many works in France. First repainted in its original color shortly after its arrival, major restoration work on the bodywork began. The interior is completely redone in the original color, namely the initial red. If the engine has not been rebuilt to our knowledge, it is in very good working order. Very regularly maintained since its arrival in France, many expenses have been made to improve its quality. We have the Jaguar Heritage Certificate dating from 2012 (N° 35499) attesting that this copy is indeed matching numbers engine, gearbox and matching color. The original body, numbered R 3424, was most certainly changed by a similar body - R 3427 - during the partial restoration in the USA.

Regarding the mismatch of body numbers, Jaguar records do have (proven) errors, however rare. It seems unlikely that a body 3 digits off would replaced the original but of course possible.
