Ebay item 8/23/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $4,000, 1 bid, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Rough body, and missing radiator and some smaller parts.

Vehicle Condition
I bought this completely disassembled and incomplete, with the intention of restoring it. I found most of the missing parts including the top and seats, and also bought a lot of Martin Robey panels. There is no radiator, and there will certainly be some smaller items missing too .I have very loosely assembled the big lumps so I can roll it around, and placed the hood (which is not assembled) on the car just to get it out of my garage. There is no VIN plate, but I have a Canadian Title. Not shown is a new windscreen, and a very comprehensive seal kit. Items I know to be missing are the front and rear parking lights, rear support for the tranny, aluminum console top, some switches and guages, heater and all interior panels. (there are some rough ones for samples). The radio looks too modern for 1962, and may be later. The body is in bad shape, the floor and sills are gone, and the frame mounting points will need work too. The transmission covers have been cut away to access the gearbox. Most of the required panels are included. The trunk is quite solid, and the rear fenders can probably be fixed without using the new ones. Someone had started to strip the paint off, and to stop it rusting any more, I primered it. Engine #R3254-8 gearbox EB2397JS Body R6994 I don`t know if the numbers match. I had intended to restore this car, but after finishing my 65 Coupe, I have neither the garage space or ambition to tackle another, so it must go. Lets be clear , I`m selling this as a parts car, I make no claims on it`s suitability for restoration, and possibly there are parts missing I dont know about.

Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 Litre Roadster, Chassis No 876607 was built Jan1962 and exported to Denmark, though it appears the first owner was Swedish. The car is LHD and was imported back into the UK last year from Canada with full documentation and a customs clearance / tax paid certificate. The car was originally Opalescent Dark Green with a light green interior (yes similar spec to 77 RW (the car used by the Jaguar for the early road tests) with matching engine gearbox and chassis numbers, confirmed by a Jaguar Authentication Certificate.

The shell needs restoration: the floors are holed and new full replacements are with the car for fitting. The outer sills are shot and need replacement though you would get away with patching the inner sills. The bulkheads and upper body tub are all generally sound though work is needed where the bulkhead meets the sills. The doors are excellent condition and the bonnet has been re-built using a new under pan. The boot floor is very good and will not need replacement.

The car comes with all the major parts. Missing are the lights (that you would buy new anyway), radiator, radio and transmission console. I may be able to source some of the above in the next few weeks. The engine will turn but the condition is unknown. The carbs, inlet manifold and air cleaner assembly are complete. The hood frame, an item so often missing, is with the car and very good. The front suspension has had some work. The rear suspension looks ok but I would rebuild regardless. The engine frames, picture frame (bearing the correct numbers for this car) all look straight.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
