To add additional info to an entry, you can use the entry form (under "enter data" in the left-hand nav). Everything that is already there will be pulled into the form, so no information is lost and no re-entering of existing info is needed!

This 1962 Jaguar XKE is an early Series I open two-seater with flat floors that was completed on January 17, 1962 and originally distributed by Jaguar Cars of New York. A cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was carried out in 1995 by Muncie Imports & Classics in Indiana at a reported cost of over $150k. Work included a color change to British Racing Green over tan, and fewer than 10k miles have since been added. Acquired by the seller five years ago, the car is powered by its numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six, which was overhauled in 2015 and is paired with a rebuilt four-speed manual gearbox. An upgraded cooling system has also been installed as outlined below. This Series I XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, four binders of receipts from the refurbishment, additional invoices, a jack and spare, knock-off tool and hammer, a custom car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Cream, the body was repainted in British Racing Green during the 1995 refurbishment. After the car was disassembled and the subframes were removed from the tub, rusted panels were replaced using Martin Robey panels, including the tub, bonnet, frame rails, doors, and trunk lid. The top frame was reconditioned and repainted, and a new black Stayfast soft top was installed along with new latches, new chrome trim, and a new tonneau coverChrome 15” Dayton wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and wear 185-width Universal Sport redline radial tires. Four-wheel independent suspension includes double wishbones, tubular shock absorbers, and a torsion bar up front, along with radius arms and double coilovers out back. Power-assisted disc brakes are equipped all around, with the rear rotors mounted inboard.

    $185,000

    Seller's description :

This 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Open Two-Seater #876575 is a matching-numbers early flat-floor model originally produced January 17, 1962 and imported by Jaguar Cars of New York.

Originally finished in Cream, the current British Racing Green paint was applied in 1995. 265 bhp, 3,781 cc DOHC inline six-cylinder engine with triple SU carburetors, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with wishbones and a torsion bar, independent rear suspension with a transverse link and trailing arms, and four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes. Note the aluminum dash fitted to the very early Series 1s.

Under a previous owner, the car underwent a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration from Jaguar specialists Muncie Imports & Classics, with over $150,000 in receipts. Four binders of documentation, invoices and photographs detail the restoration and vehicle history. The original motor and transmission were completely rebuilt. The interior has been completely redone with the G.W. Bartlett kit using Connolly Leather. The convertible top is in excellent condition with good trim and a clear rear window. Every piece of this car has been touched and freshened. Upgraded cooling system with Series 2 radiator and electric fan. This work was completed in 1995.

The current owner did a detailed engine rebuild in 2015 with receipts totaling over $24,000. This work was done by Harry Fulford, founder of E-Types UK/USA. Detailed invoices and photos are included in the binders. Also included is the vehicles Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate.

The most notable issue is a nickel size flaw in the paint behind the drivers door, which can be seen in the gallery below. Dayton chrome wire wheels wear Universal Sport tires in the correct 185HR15 size. The odometer shows 9183, which is the total miles driven since the 1995 frame-off restoration.

Engine #R3615-9 is the original to the car, as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate below. The 3.8L engine was cleaned and painted during the 2015 rebuild.

The car is sold with a clean California Title and the Jaguar Heritage Certificate is included. An extensive gallery of photos from the lengthy restoration process, as well as comprehensive details and lift shots can be seen below.
