Car comes to Ebay 6/13/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1962-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-Flat-Floor-s-Matc ...
Current bid $34,100 reserve not met, 13 bids, 4 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
A beautiful example of a rare and desireable 1962 Jaguar e-type flat floor roadster. This low mileage (44,835), numbers matching car has been cosmetically and mechanically restored, and as you can see by the photographs is quite stunning. Bodywise, the car is solid and rust free. She was repainted several years ago in correct Carmine Red. The Glasurit paint job has held up very well and still shines nicely. At the time of the paint job the top was replaced in correct canvas (it looks new, clear back window), all rubber was replaced, and all chrome reconditioned. The chrome looks fabulous with none of the usual pitting. All glass looks great with no scratches -not even on the headlight covers. The interior was then entirely replaced with correct Connolly leather (the seats themselves were also upgraded to 1965 seats for comfort reasons) and wool carpets. The interior presents itself very well and is in very good overall condition. Mechanically this IS a MATCHING NUMBERS car. The engine is the original.

Here are the numbers: ENG: R3448-9, Gearbox: EB2574JS, CAR# (VIN) 876477, Body#R2802

My 1962 XKE is in excellent mechanical condition. The car currently has 44,835 miles. The engine, clutch, and gearbox are extremely tight and responsive and the car is very fast. Oil pressure is excellent (60psi) and she does not overheat.

The exhaust is a new and correct stainless steel unit from front to back. The car comes with factory correct (and rare) canvas tonneau cover, complete tool roll, jack and spare.

This is an opportunity to own a great car which needs nothing to enjoy now, and little to be a show winner.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
