With hardtop. 5-speed Getrag box and Coopercraft calipers. Some restoration 1998. Paint and chrome still good; retrim very good. Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Open Top Sports 1961
Jaguar E type 1961 Flat Floor Roadster 1961. The Heritage Certificate shows that this E type was originally ordered via the new York distributor as a tourist delivery vehicle. The 1119th flat floor LHD model, it was completed on 15/11/1961 and first registered in Coventry UK on 28/11/1961 by the original owner Mr G. Crowder.
He then exported it to USA on board the Cunard liner Queen Mary . After an accident in 1963 the colour was changed to BRG metallic .In 1968 it was sold to a Mr E.Helman in California. He sold the car into New Zealand to a Mr A Caird of Christchurch whence the car was converted to RHD configuration in 2002. It then was exported back to UK to a Mr C. Cook when it was acquired by the last owner although it did pass through Bonhams in 2004. In 2009 he exported the car to Australia and has maintained ownership ever since.
There are recepts for maintenance in UK then New Zealand including the engineers compliancy report regarding the conversion to RHD.
There are also many receipts for parts and service work including a full engine rebuild carried out in Australia over recent years. Work and parts for this area alone amounts to over $25,000-00.
This Etype is in excellent mechanical and structural condition . It offers improved and spirited performance with the added ease of the 5 speed gearbox. The interior is in very good order and it comes with a factory hardtop. The paintwork , while presentable could do with some attention. However this is a matching engine number early 3.8 litre roadster which are becoming harder to find and ever more collectible.

Just a point of clarification: If it has a 5 speed gearbox it is not a matching-numbers car.
