Current bid $32,100 reserve not met, 4 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar E-Type

This car is the 1035 LHD built in the first year of the E-Type production 1961, because it is such an early car, there are many features that set it apart from other 3.8 E-Types.

The car is a “flat-floor” car, which means it also does not have the curved indents to move the seat back further. The body is laser straight, including the inner and outer sills, the floors including the boot floor, are all perfect and original to the car. The frame rails, picture frame, and bonnet are straight, and rock-solid.

Radiator – it carries its original finned aluminum Marston radiator and runs cool even in the extreme summer heat of Georgia

Brake Reservoirs – it carries the early-style round brake bottles and the original rounded bracket.

Dated Electricals – All electrical components on the car other than the charging system are original. All dated items, wiper motor and various gauges and relays under the dash carry dates from the Summer of 1961. ALL of the gauges, ALL of the switches, and the entire wiring harness on the car is also original, all components work.

Fuel Tank - The fuel tank is original with an original submerged fuel pump.

Rear Axle - The rear axle assembly is the original very early style lower wishbones with different sized inner bearing races and matching bottom plate and carries its original welded half shafts.

Steering Wheel – the steering wheel is different than later cars and is referred to as the “fat” wheel. The aluminum is exposed along the inside of the wheel and the profile of the wood is rounder and thicker with slightly different finger grooves on the back-side.

Other – there are many other smaller items on the car that are slightly different than the average 3.8 roadster as well. Various brackets, windshield washer system, correct front tilting license plate holder that folds the front plate down when the bonnet is opened and much of the linkages is slightly different than later cars – all of these items are original to this car and correct.

Fit and Finish - It has Laser straight body, beautiful chrome & stainless

Paint – the car is as perfect today as it was the day it was completed.

Interior – the interior is finished in Black leather, mohair, etc., and it is correct in every way. The top is also to original and top quality. The fit of the top is excellent

Engine – the engine was completely disassembled and new rings and bearings were installed on the original crank, rods, and pistons, then blueprinted and balanced. New timing chain, tensioner’s, gaskets, oil pump, etc. were also all installed at that time. The flywheel was resurfaced and balanced during the blueprinting and balancing process to the crankshaft. The engine runs excellent with great oil pressure at both speed and idle, 20 lbs at idle when hot & 50+ at speed.

Attention to Detail - the car is restored to a show quality down to the correct hose clamps. A 99.+ car that drives as good as it looks.

A VERY RARE CAR WITH A VERY UNIQUE HISTORY

Hi M, my car 876073 seemed to have black-painted suspension pieces, though it was difficult to tell what was original and what was "wear." Suspension had never been apart, anyway.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
