    Car listed on EBay:

    Description (revised)

    Jaguar : XKE

1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, Solid Original

    Miles: 99999999

    Transmission: Manual

    Interior: Brown

    Engine: 6 - Cyl.

    Year: 1962

    VIN Number: 875824

    Exterior: Black

Vehicle Description: You are viewing a rare 62 E-Type flat floor roadster which I originally purchased here in Knoxville, out of dry storage, back in 1983--20 years ago! Currently it is in dry storage at a British car restoration shop locally. I have had the best of intentions over the years, with visions of restoring her to her original grandeur. But, alas, lack of time, resources, a child, and other priorities have slowed progress. Now that I'm doing a major home addition, I've decided to give another Jaguar enthusiast a chance to resurrect her like she deserves. The good news is that she has always been in dry storage, which has lessened the tinworm's advances. She has remained solid since I bought her--there is no rustout anywhere on the body! Only a minor area on the right front floorboard where moisture collected in the carpets before I bought her, but it is not structural. Otherwise, there is only surface rust or pinholes on the original flat floors. Yes, the bonnet, tub, even the rockers and trunk area are totally original and solid! I truly have not seen an original car this solid in over two decades, and I've looked at a lot of Jaguars with a discerning eye.

The car is originally red, still showing its original paint on the exceptionally straight subframe under the bonnet. In fact, the car has all of its original body panels. The budget black spray job was on it when I found her. The car is straight as an arrow with no evidence of any collisions even on the nose of the bonnet. As was popular back in the late 60's, someone has filled the bonnet fender seams.

The car retains its original drivetrain, and although indications are that she has not travelled a great number of miles in her lifetime, the engine probably should be gone through as I have not turned it in 20 years. All the numbers match, and it still has the original yellow-gold paint on the head of its powerful 3.8 litre double overhead cam 6-cylinder.

Although the car is in need of a total restoration, it is doubtful that many cars still exist that are this original and have avoided wrecks and rust, so this is truly an opportunity for the Jag restorer. I will probably regret selling her, as a car with this potential is a rare find indeed. So, happy bidding, and may the best man (or woman) win!

Vehicle Condition: As above, needs restoration.

Note: I have several boxes of parts that go with the car stored in my garage which are not pictured with the car. Other parts include dash sections, guages, console and interior components, bonnet headlight hardware, brake master, breather assembly, spare wire wheel and tire, etc.

Car has a Buy-It-Now price of US $14,900.00

In March 2015, this Roadster was purchased by UK Jaguar E-Type specialists New Forest Classic Cars, who undertook an extensive restoration, recording over 3,000 hours of labor, and completing it in March 2018. The restoration was considerate and detailed, ensuring the car retained its original factory parts and components wherever possible, including the period Butlers rear number plate lights and original Lucas PL headlights. The Carmen Red over Black color scheme has been retained with an exceptional level of detail to ensure its authenticity and originality.

According to the accompanying JDHT Certificate, the car also retains its all-important matching-numbers engine. This attractive Jaguar presents beautifully today in its original factory-ordered specification, and is supported by an extensive collection of photographs and documentation supporting its restoration.
