Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar XKE / 3.8 L Roadster CONCOURS
This 1961 XKE is a stunning ground-up TOTAL restoration and is truly a CONCOURS showpiece. Every detail has been attended to with original parts and correct matching numbers on all appropriate components. Everything is in top running order. As mentioned, this is a '61 XKE, number 875789 ... the 969th, left hand drive, convertible built in late October of 1961. It has 42,960 miles on the odometer. It, of course, has welded louvers and flat floors that quickly identify it as one of the frist XKEs manufactured. The 3.8 liter engine and drive train has only 5000 miles on it after a total rebuild and is in excellent running order. In addition, this car sports the original Blaupunkt AM-FM SW radio, flat dash, circular pattern aluminum console, Lucus "PL" headlights and all the detailed components of this manufacture date. (You may refer to Dr. Thomas Haddock's book, Jaguar E-type Restoration and Originality Guide for verification.) Jag aficionados will recognize the absolutely outstanding detail in this total restoration. Included is a complete original tool kit and jack. A rare find indeed! To re-iterate, no detail has been left out. This Jaguar XKE is a timeless classic. Please see photo array included in this offering for a more complete overview of the restoration effort. It is very rare to have such a complete restoration with original parts in such pristine condition. By the by, the XKE is the only automobile to be displayed in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art as work of art!Interested persons are encouraged to arrange for a personal inspection. The car is located a mear 10 mins from the Mpls-St.Paul International Airport so that you may view the car in a timely manner.A similarly restored "61 coupe was recently auctioned in the Barrett Jackson Auction for $80,000 . This ('61) convertible will undoubtedly fetch much more. Don't let this opportunity to own a rare classic like this pass you by. The owner, again encourages, and will be happy to have any bidder inspect the vehicle.
