This 'flat floor' E-Type roadster has been fully restored by Classic Restoration Services of Vreeland in the Netherlands, the work being carried out to very high standards between November 2013 and November 2014. The engine was rebuilt by MRA using high quality parts including Mahle pistons, Vandervell bearings and Renold timing chains, while the gearbox and clutch have been overhauled to similarly high standards. Engine components were blueprinted and balanced, and sensible upgrades such as the crankshaft rear oil seal conversion, high output oil pump and lead-free cylinder head conversion incorporated. The cooling system too has been upgraded with a new radiator, high output water pump and Kenlowe electric fan.
Suspension components were powder coated and assembled with all new bearings, ball joints and rubber bushes, and the brakes restored to original specification using all new components. The fuel tank and its immersed electronic pump are both new, as is the wiring loom, while all electrical components have been rebuilt and a high-output alternator fitted.
The bodywork was sandblasted back to bare metal before being re-sprayed and weather protected underneath. Chromed parts were restored by CRS-UK and all new screens and seals fitted on re-assembly. Made to original specification by Aldridge Trimming in the UK, the interior is all new and to original specification, featuring new alloy bucket seats specially made for the 'flat floor' model. The car is finished in Ice Blue, with the interior, mohair soft-top and hood envelope all in contrasting dark blue. The wheels are 6½" wide, 72-spoke wires shod with high-speed Continental 205/70R15 tubeless tyres.
By time of sale the car will have covered some 250 'shakedown' miles. It will be delivered complete with its original tool kit and a comprehensive restoration record consisting of some 100 photographs. Accompanying documentation consists of a heritage certificate and US Certificate of Title.

It is the first post outside bonnet lock car ever made (assuming that LHD roadsters were the most produced ones and therewith on production at the assembly line when the change came).
Also some kind of special!

1961 Jaguar E Type Roadster Left Hand Drive. Finished in Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue hide interior with matching hood, hood bag and carpets. This is a very significant car that is the first non external bonnet lock flat floor to leave the production line on 23rd August 1961. It has received a total ground up restoration in the Netherlands to a very high standard with many upgrades to the engine including Mahle pistons, Vandervell bearings, Renold chains with a Blueprinted engine plus a crankshaft rear oil seal conversion, high output oil pump and lead free cylinder head conversion.
The cooling system has been upgraded with a high output water pump and Kenlowe fan. The chrome wire wheels are 6.5 inches with 72 spoke wires and 205/70R 15 tyres. The interior is to original spec by Aldridge Trimming with new alloy bucket seats. The car was supplied new to its first lady owner in Norwalk, Connecticut USA on 12th September 1961. The condition is out of the box like new having covered less than 100 miles since the rebuild. Currently UK registered and with all taxes paid. It has a complete before and after detailed photographic file of the restoration, Heritage Certificate, US title document, UK NOVA confirmation, UK V5C document and original toolkit.
