This is a very early car, rough but complete and restorable. I'm looking for opinions about whether to make it absolutely original or add modern gearbox, cooling, electrics, brakes etc. whilst making it look completely original.

Please leave it absolut original!

Maybe the only adjustment or improvement I would go for is to switch to a 3:07 diff. Everything else in my opinion is redundant.
A well restored Moss Box has better shifts than any other box even as a Getrag and also well restored brakes are not as bad as their reputation. Cooling worked as well back then and to tell the truth, you would not use the car in stop and go at night anymore, right? So no risk to get out of electrical power........ Leave it as it was and you will have the charm of how the car was when delivered in 1961!

And also please stick to 5" or 5,5" original or original looking wire wheels. I personally hate these wide rim wheels, they are awful!

Good luck with getting your car well restored!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
