This 1961 Jaguar XKE is a left-hand drive Series I roadster that was completed on June 6, 1961 and distributed in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. It underwent a refurbishment in the late 1980s and was acquired by the current owner in 1998. The car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and has been repainted black over matching leather upholstery. Features include welded hood louvers, flat floors, glass headlight covers, external hood latches, triple SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, chrome knock-off wire wheels, and a black soft top. This XKE is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate, an operator’s manual, and New Hampshire registration.

Delivered from the factory in Opalescent Gunmetal and previously refinished in red, the car underwent a bare-metal repaint in black during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include split bumpers, glass headlight covers, welded hood louvers, external hood latches, central exhaust outlets, and a black soft top and boot cover. Various paint imperfections are noted by the seller.

The 15” chrome wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with older Dunlop tires that are said to be in need of replacement. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. Braking is through four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. A brake fluid flush is said to have been performed in preparation for the sale.

The cabin was trimmed in red leather from the factory and has since been reupholstered in black. Textured aluminum trims the dashboard and center console, and equipment includes lap belts for both occupants, a Radiomobile push-button AM radio, toggle switches for vehicle functions, and a height-adjustable rear-view mirror.

The three-spoke steering wheel features exposed aluminum on the inner rim and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Approximately 76k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, a handful of which have been added by the current owner over the last 24 years. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch fluid is said to have been flushed in preparation for the sale.

The Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

875085 has imho achieved a decent price tag in respect of its originality. Some very important details were wrong / repro / missing:

- VIN plate (repro)

- Body no tag (missing)

- Dynamo (wrong)

- Dash top

- Center dash legend (repro)

- Colours (in- and outside)

- Brake fluid caps

- ......

Imho the seller should have accepted the achieved sum
