Car at auction 8/25

www.iconicauctioneers.com/1962-jaguar-e-type-series-1-3-8-rec15328-2-silverston- ...

Auction description:

1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1 3.8 FHC

Registration Number 465 LBP

Chassis Number 860820

Engine Number R6220-9

Transmission Manual

Body Colour Carmen Red

According to its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this superb, matching numbers, right-hand drive Series 1 3.8-litre FHC (#860820) finished in Carmen Red with Biscuit leather left 'final assembly' on 23rd August 1962 prior to being dispatched to Henlys London on 13th September and onwards to its, presumably rather proud, first owner.

The accompanying 'buff' logbook documents the car's early ownership, however it appears that in its later life, it spent a number of years off the road and in storage. The current private owner bought the car in 'dismantled' form in 2016 through marque experts, AJ Autocraft and they were subsequently tasked with returning it to its former glory. There followed a six year and six figure comprehensive restoration with very impressive results. The bodywork was entrusted to RJ Panels, the paintwork was carried out by XK Engineering and the interior finished by GB Classic Trim.

All the relevant restoration invoices are in the car's history file, however there is simply too much detail to list here so we encourage all interested parties to spend some time at our Documents Desk and have a look for themselves. Shortly after the restoration was finished in 2021, our vendor moved to Spain committing the Jaguar to professional storage until his return, which now appears to some time in the future so his painstakingly restored Carmen Red Series I is being offered to market. We believe that the odometer reading of 212 miles represents the car's use since the restoration and this is entirely commensurate with the Jaguar's stunning condition.

The car's history file contains the aforementioned buff log book and restoration invoices, plus correspondence from E-Type UK when the restoration as finished to register the car, a copy of Jaguar E-Type The Complete Story’by Jonathan Wood and the current UK V5C.

Offered at an estimate considerably less than our vendor's investment, this is a rare and desirable opportunity to acquire a rare early 1962 Series I that still gleams from the attention it's enjoyed from some of the very best names in E-Type restoration.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
