Sellers comment:
This is a 1962 Jaguar 3.8 E Type Fixed Head Coupe being sold weeks away from completion due to unexpected emigration to Singapore.
The car has matching numbers and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
Major restoration work having been carried out by specialists, she is now reluctantly for sale needing retrimming and fitting out.
As many of the original parts as possible have been kept and there are no "improvements". She is totally as original. But as you will realise much of the body has been replaced. The mechanicals are all up and running and the car can be driven. Finished beautifully in original Carmen Red and with the biscuit interior.
The car comes complete with a new Jaguar carpet set and there is a headlining fitted, although I would replace it. The car has the original Lucas headlights. There are some, although very few, parts needed to complete this car; from memory, the largest missing piece is the multi plug which connects the wiring loom into the bonnet.
I have photos of the car in the condition when I bought it and the early restoration work.
Two weeks will put this car back on the road with a years MOT, unfortunately I do not have the time.

KEY FACTS
An elegant British icon, restored with a Carmen Red finish and a sumptuous Biscuit leather interior.
It is powered by a rebuilt 3.8-litre straight-six, believed to be original to the car, coupled to the four-speed manual gearbox.
Acquired by the vendor 10 years ago, it has been mechanically overhauled and re-trimmed, and is now in superb condition throughout.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This example features Carmen Red paintwork, a Biscuit leather interior, 15-inch wire wheels and a heated rear screen, which was unusual in early E-Types.
It has been modified with a rebuilt 3.07:1 final drive differential, and the speedometer has been recalibrated accordingly.
Its Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate will be included, along with its first tax disc from 1962.
CONDITION
No known bodywork damage, but the bonnet has been replaced.
The XKE Data website reveals that the bulk of the body restoration and paintwork was completed around 2004.
Its resprayed Carmen Red paintwork is in excellent condition, with just a few minor chips around the rear hatch.
The cabin’s re-trimmed Biscuit leather upholstery is pristine, with no wear and certainly no damage.
The vendor has reported a scuff to the offside B-pillar trim.
No electrical faults have been detected.
The most recent MOT test was on 18 July 2016 at 76,516 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories or defects. The car is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.
SERVICE HISTORY
The engine, gearbox and rear axle are believed to be original to the car, and were professionally rebuilt in 2020.
The brakes were overhauled and a new wiring loom and fuel tank were fitted, along with new Biscuit leather upholstery and new seatbelts in the cabin.
The engine oil was changed 200 miles after the engine rebuild, but a full service on the refreshed straight-six is not yet due.
SUMMARY
This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 FHC is a wonderful example of one of the most stylish British classics, with a period-perfect colour scheme and which has undergone a recent mechanical rebuild. It presents in fantastic condition, and would make a stunning addition to any collection.
