Hi Alan I owned Jaguar 253dyt from 1968 until 1971, still have a number plate in my garage which was fitted to the front of the car, i think the colour was called indigo blue and it had a black interior. The engine was supposedly uprated by coombs of guildford, it had no air cleaner and the carbs were fitted with long trumpets, the bodywork was showing signs of a considerable amount of rust when i sold it.

Hi Alan, I have only just come across your post after putting in 253 DYT as I used to own this car.
I owned the car between 1977 and 1981, but it was painted Old English White at that time. The engine was a 4.2 instead of the original 3.8. I bought it from someone who lived on the Wirral in 1977 and I lived in Liverpool at that time. I sold it in 1981 to a Jaguar establishment in the midlands, can't remember the name now.
Best of luck with the car.

For sale at Pendine Historic Cars of Bicester. A right hand drive, UK supplied, 3.8 litre coupe. Finished in Indigo Blue with a Grey interior, it is a well restored example with sensible upgrades.

The Heritage Certificate confirms it left Browns Lane on 29 March 1962, supplied to Henlys London, the first owner was P D Good of Brentwood, Essex. Ownership is known from the outset, including photos from the third owner, John Mallett, who used the car from 1968 until 1971.

Extensively restored by Robert Pepper of Royal Purple Restorations between 1988 - 1990, there are pictures in the file showing the extent of their work. Whilst awaiting auction by Coys of Kensington in 2004, a warehouse fire damaged the Jaguar and thus a second bare metal restoration took place between 2005 and 2012. Again photos are on file of the work completed, along with a great many invoices. This restoration was to a very high standard and it was chosen by Stratstone, the Jaguar dealer, to be exhibited alongside the new F Type upon its launch.

There is a great list of upgrades fitted during this period that transform this E Type into a fabulous road car including a high torque starter, SPAX adjustable shockers, Coopercraft front brakes, electronic ignition and Dunlop triple laced competition wheels. A great driving E Type in a desirable colour scheme.

Is the present owner aware that there is a short film on YouTube regarding the early history of this vehicle titled " The jaguar death case what dark past does 253 DYT have " On another note does any one have any history on Roadster 248 DYT a London registered car I would be interested to find out any information.

    Registration Number: 253DYT

A stunning car finished in its original colour of dark Indigo Blue with a grey leather interior. This car is about to arrive & we will photograph it & its extensive history upon arrival with us. It is a fuly matching numbers car with excellent provenance. It was supplied new by Henleys Motor group & also passed though the hands of Coombes of Guildford.

Previously for sale with noted Ferrari specialsits DK engineering; they also perfomed a major & expensive service whilst the car was with them. It is just coming out of years storage & is having an additional recommissioning service done by ourselves.

The car is fully restored & it superb order wanthing for nothing. It sits on knock off painted wire wheels shod with nearly new tyres. All brightwork is excellent as is the grey hide interior. Indocated mileage from new is 82,911 Believed correct. An unbroken MOT chain for the past decade shows little but regular use.

Highly collectable, correct & ready for immediate use or display.
