Car listed as sold at:
www.purnellclassics.co.uk/stocklist_detail.php

Sellers description:
JAGUAR E TYPE 3.8 Series1 SOLD

This is one of the iconic Series one flat floor RHD E type coupes and was built on the 26th January 1962. In Carman Red it was supplied complete with fitted sun roof.

This car was dispatched on the 7 February to its first owner Mr J. G Raenk in NorthernRhodesia. In 1981 it moved to South Africa and remainded in excellent condition. There are good photographs of its condition before its return to the UK in 2002.

A photographic record is provided of the extensive rebuild by its last fastidious owner who spared no expense with a £60000 restoration. Since then it has only covered 200 miles.

The photographs attempt to show the level of commitment devoted to this work but they cannot do justice to this exceptional acheivement of quality workmanship. The car seen up close is even more stunning.

The work included full body bare metal respray with new panels and an impressive panel fit.

The paintwork is in its original Carmen Red which many consider to be the best colour.

The engine was entrusted to Dick Bradley of Braintree who's workmanship is impressive with Fast road cams and the engine lightened and balanced.

A new wiring loom and stainless steel exhaust plus numerous new parts and ventilated 4 pot front disk brakes further compliment the final results.

This rare and sort after model is simple exquisite. Just back from the Classic and Sports Car Stand at the NEC..

Complete with rare toolbox and tools, workshop manual. Photographs of body work restoration both before and after work.

JDHT certificate and new MOT certificate.

Includes its distinctive GAS 854 number plate.

Only 200 miles like new probably the best there is. Just superb

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
