In mid 1997 I saw a picture of the car after it had been bought in 1991 by Derek Field of Bishopstoke in Hampshire England from David Martin. When he bought it the car was a basket case and some work had been done to the body, much of it incorrect. The engine and gearbox were from a later model. The bodynr. is V1251. The first owner of the car was D.M.A. Jones of Bolten Percy in North York.

Hello. I owned this car from 1971 to 1973....When purchased, it was painted Regency Red. I purchased it in Huddersfield. I lived in Wakefield. The engine had to be rebuilt, and a hole in the floor welded up. It was resprayed a deep yellow colour. I then lost track of the vehicle, as I had purchased a 3.8 roadster, Reg. No. 5757 UP. I owned this E Type until 1977, when it was sold needing extensive welding to floor pan. It was bought by David Wray who owned a garage in Wakefield. I have never been able to track it down since. Would love to know what happened to these 2 cars.

I have just found details of 5757 UP dhc on DVLA site. It was last taxed in 2013, so the car is still intact. MOT ran out in June 2014. The news of CWR 877H is less clear, as it appears it still has not been restored in full? I stand to be corrected?

5757 UP was a Drop Head Coupe, and CWR 877H was a fixed head! I still have some old photos of the cars, showing the regstration numbers! I owned both cars in the early 1970,s.

Lofty did not write last message, I did. David Wilkins.... The data sheet at top of page refers to CWR877H, NOT 5757UP. CWR 877H was originally registered in Eire. and was given the CWR registration on its re-import into UK

This beautiful flat floor fixed head coupe is the 38th FHC ever built, and was manufactured on the 20th November 1961 and subsequently delivered to the Leeds Jaguar distributor on 1st December 1961. The first owner was Mr D M A Jones of Bolton Percy, York. The car then went to the Republic of Ireland between 1965 - 1969. Since its return to the UK, the car has had only four owners, the last being a very significant collector. Since he bought the car from us in 2014 he has carried out a cosmetic and mechanical restoration, including a complete re-paint back to its original colour of Opalescent Dark Blue, re-trim, plus engine and gearbox rebuild. A fabulously pretty example of the rare and desirable flat floor, chassis 860038 is also accopanied by a lovely, complete history file.
