3/22 Post on Jag-Lovers E-Type forum:
This is chassis #2 FHC, one of four made and in the same ownership since 1982 when it was found blocking a hole in the hedge to stop the sheep getting out. The only E-type to leave the factory with a 3.4 engine. The owner has reportedly turned down £1 million for it

Car listed as sold at:
pendine.com/cars-for-sale/1961-jaguar-e-type-series-i-fixed-head-coupe-2/
Seller's description:
With a number of significant road and competition Jaguar E-Type’s coming to auction soon, we thought we’d announce the sale of one of the most important of the early cars.
Chassis 860002 was the second of only four Outside Bonnet Lock, RHD Coupes, and importantly, the first ever E-Type Coupe to see action at a race circuit. Supplied to first owner Anthony Davenport of Leek, Staffordshire, Davenport was a factory supported privateer racer. Delivered in late August 1961, and fitted with a D-Type spec 3.8 Litre engine (bored out from a 3.4) taken from his XK150, he immediately went racing. In 1961 he managed to squeeze in a couple of events at Silverstone and Oulton Park, and then in 1962 completed a full season, returning to the factory for further modifications. This was all fastidiously recorded in Davenport’s racing log, from tyre pressures to lap times.
Today, 002 is largely unrestored and retains most of its original factory upgrades. We secured it on behalf of a notable British collector from the long term owner, working with William Heynes Ltd to do so.
