Sold for an incredible £25,300 including 10% buyers' premium. It had not been used since 1976 and was functionally a wreck . The paint was completely crazed, and some indication of the degree of neglect was the fact that both clutch and brake master cylinders were seized solid - there was not even 1/8 inch movement on the pedals - something I have never seen before

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
