We performed a full and extensive restoration on this car in 2001 for owner Mike Carlton. Mike purchased the car in Sydney then took it with him to the UK whilst he was working over there. He had the car restored in the UK. When he returned to Australia he brang the car back with him. Came to us for some minor repairs and to check it over and it quickly became apparant that the car had been restored very poorly. The UK restorer had affixed a brass plaque to the inner sill proudly announcing that they had restored the car. What we found and the restoration can be viewed here: www.concours.com.au/restored-a-restoring/e-types/series-i-38-ots. Since being completed the car is used sparirly and maintained by us. The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
