Lot 381: 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 �Flat Floor� Roadster

Factory records confirm that chassis no.850305 was despatched from Browns Lane on 28th December 1961 and the car was first registered on 12th January 1962. The original colour was opalescent dark blue with grey leather interior, a colour scheme which this car retains. In 1987 the car was the subject of a painstaking restoration to coachwork, trim and mechanical aspects, maintaining the car as closely as possible in all respects to original specification. Detailed bills are available for inspection. The current recorded mileage is 57,000 or so miles and MoT records commencing in 1973 show the mileage then to be 15,127 miles, progressively increasing over the last 35 years to the present figure. In the present ownership since 1995 the car has covered some 15,000 or so miles. It is equipped with an FM radio (working on LW setting) which also has a CD/iPod input lead. Although not concours, this is an exceptionally well presented example of the �Flat Floor� E Type which has been driven, enjoyed and cherished. It comes with a workshop manual, old MoTs and restoration bills, old style log book, authentication letter from Jaguar and Swansea registration document. The car is currently licenced and MoT�d.

Factory records confirm that chassis number '850305' was despatched from Browns Lane on 28th December 1961 and first registered on 12th January 1962. The original colour scheme was opalescent dark blue with grey leather interior, which the car retains. In 1987 the E-Type was treated to a painstaking restoration of the coachwork, interior trim and mechanicals, maintaining the car's originality as closely as possible (see detailed bills on file).
'410 VPP' had covered some 15,000 miles in the immediately preceding ownership (from 1995) when it was purchased by the current vendor at Bonhams' Goodwood Festival of Speed sale in June 2007 (Lot 381). Immediately after purchase the Jaguar was taken to marque specialists M & C Wilkinson of Doncaster for a full service at a cost of £11,600, while more recently (in February 2011) the clutch was replaced (bills on file).
Driven, enjoyed and cherished, this early E-Type is described as running well, though in need of some cosmetic refreshment and new foot-well carpets. The car comes with sundry restoration/service bills, Swansea V5C registration document and current MoT.

After the Goodwood Festival of Speed auction in Chichester in July 2011, the car was driven infrequently before being given a Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN) in June 2013 ahead of it entering restoration with Spellbound Cars in Farnham, Surrey.

The restoration stated in July 2013 and included the disassembly of the engine and ancillary systems/components with parts retooled/refurbished or replaced; removal of all undercarriage (suspension/axles/exhaust) and parts repaired/ replaced/ resealed/cadmium re-coating; removed all bright work and had these re-chromed; removed and re-upholstered interior (seats & linings) with original coloured leather and retired the dashboard; chemically stripped all paint and repaired/ re-welded imperfections with the body/sills/doors to meet original requirements; tailored a new mohair tonneau cover; prepared, primes and repainted all to exact original Jaguar opalescent blue. By May 2015, car was re-registered (410 VPP)
