Sold by Simon Furlonger Specialist Cars of Ashford in August 2021. Amended seller's description below.

This Series 1 E Type Roadster was first delivered in November 1961 by Weybridge Automobiles and registered to Relay Exchanges of Swindon, owned by the late Diana Dors father. It was finished in Opalescent Dark Blue with Grey leather interior trim and delivered with the registration 736WPC, the same registration it still retains to the present day. After purchase by Mr Kenyon of Andover the car underwent a metal up restoration in the 1980s and received a colour change to red which is documented within the car's extensive history file. During restoration the engine, drive train and suspension were comprehensively overhauled.

The car then passed to Mr Worley who kept it for a short period before being sold to Mr Holmes of Surrey by Romans of Woking in 1985. He kept it for 5 years and it then passed to Mr Davis who owned the car until 2018. He was a member of the E Type Register and regularly attended tour and track events such as the Prescott Hill Cavalcade, Heynes RACMSA Classic, RAC Classic Run and Beachey Head Rotary Club Concours. In the history file there is correspondence with the organisers of these events, along with copies of invoices, MoT certificates and the Heritage Trust certificate.

In 2018 it was purchased by a prominent collector who commissioned a no expense spared restoration returning the car back to its original finish of Opalescent Dark Blue. The car was overhauled from the ground up, retaining its original chassis, engine, gearbox and body. The interior was re-trimmed in Biscuit, accompanying the Blue extremely well. The restoration completed in January 2021, and was then meticulously road tested. A spectacular example, freshly restored with no expense spared, ready to sit in a fine collection.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
