This car is owned by Craig McWhirter of Dunfermline and is being restored at Classic AutoSports workshops in Inverkeilor, Angus,

This car (850029) has never been offered for sale by Classic AutoSports. I think it has probably been confused with 875029, which has been, both are in our workshops, both are the same colour.

29XKE is not this vehicle's original plate (issued Kent, April 1963).

That is correct Dave, It's a 'cherished number' that Craig thought suited the car and will probably stay with it for ever more now.

Feb. 2001 Jaguar World states the car was supplied to J.M. Greatham, Lincs.

Car was bought new in Lincolnshire by my father-in-law John Greatham. Original reg.number was REE 500. I have photo of it with this reg no. but don't know how to upload it.

As David reported, I am the owner of the car and have been for many years now. I never knew the original number or I would have looked to put that back on. When the opportunity came up to acquire 29 XKE I took it. I bought the car from Dave Worrow of ENO 30 renoun. It is now running regularly and will hopefully do so for many years. Any pictures and history very welcome indeed.

Hi Craig

My father-in-law (deceased) John Greetham, bought the car new just before marrying my mother-in-law, Elizabeth Wharton (still alive). They then travelled through France in the car for their honeymoon.

Where are you? She is in Norfolk but spends a lot of time in North Lincs.

It would be great if she could see the car one day. She may have more pictures etc of the car.

Best regards

Piers

Piers,

Many thanks for your email. I will give you a call early next week (won't disturb you at the weekend) as just picked up this message.

I took the car off the road at the start of the winter and it is undergoing some work at Classic Autosports in Inverkielor. Work I couldn't get round to when originally refurbished the car and also fitting some early parts that had been replaced before.

Happy to send some pictures for your mother to review and of course welcome to see the car but probably best when back together later in the year.

I live in the Dunfermline area, just North of Edinburgh.

Speak soon,

Craig

Hi Craig

Just re-visiting this. Hope you're well.

Is car up an running and still in your possession?

It may be difficult to achieve, but it would be so nice for my mother in law to see the car one day.

Might be easier if you mail me on sales@richbrook.co.uk

Best regards

Piers.
