Ebay item 3/4/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-TWO-4-2-LITER-1971-jaguar-e-type-xke-serie ...
Car has a buy it now price of $18,950 for 20 days. 66k miles.
Sellers description:
1971 JAGUAR SERIES TWO 4.2 LITER FIXED HEAD COUPE. ORIGINAL PRIMROSE YELLOW WITH TAN TRIM. STANDARD WHEELS. 4-SPEED. AIR CONDITIONING. ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR. 3-OWNERS. FULL #'S MATCHING CAR.
Offered for sale, here on Ebay, from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is a very decent Jaguar E-type two-seater Fixed Head Coupe. This car was recently purchased from the third owner who had planned to restore it. He purchased the car approximately four years ago from it's long term second lady owner from Laguna Beach, CA. She purchased the car when it was only one year old. She owned this car nearly from new and it was her pride and joy. Wanting to improve it during the mid-80's, she took the car to a local bodyshop for a repaint. Too much money was given to the shop owner upfront, and the car was never completed. The body work was put into primer, and the front dipped sections of the floors were in the process of removal and replacement. The rest of the car is exceptionally rustree. The body on the car is extremely nice and straight, accident-free, as evidenced by the photos. The bonnet is in very good condition and fits the car very well. The other body panels line up fine. Little work is required at this point to finish off the car, readying it for paintwork...
The mechanicals on the car are understood to be in decent condition. Back then, it was a very nice running car that was driven to the paintshop. Although the engine hasn't been running in years, it turns very smoothly by hand with good compression. There is very clean oil in the sump that is up to the mark, a positive sign of a healthy engine. The speedometer reads 66k original miles, which are very believable because of the car's history. It appears as though the engine has never been removed from the car, and it's number is matching to the original data plate. A very nice, rebuilt original radiator has been purchased and is included with the car.
The interior trim on the car was removed at the paintshop and needs to be replaced. Please look at the photo of parts as this car is missing some items. Noted items that are not here are the front pair of seats, radiator shroud with cooling fans, water pump, headlamp hardware and trim, radio console, glove box, dash top pad, air cleaner can and collector box, window trim moldings. All items are available today. There is a crate of interior chrome and trinket parts that were saved that go with the car. The car requires two more original steel road wheels, as one fitted isn't an original and the spare rim is missing. The 4th hubcap is present.
Overall, this car presents an economical opportunity to enter into Jaguar E-type ownership with a desirable and pretty Series Two Fixed Head Coupe with a full matching numbers drivetrain. It has a great body (almost ready for paint) and very believable original low mileage. This car has an enviable 3-owner Southern California history from new, with the second owner of over 40 years. In this escalating E-type market, this car offers good upside potential and investment opportunity.
