This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was manufactured in August 1970 and was acquired by its current owner in October 1973. The car was refinished in red over black leather in the early 1980s and is powered by a rebuilt 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes chrome knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a limited-slip differential, triple SU carburetors, a Borla stainless-steel exhaust system, a black soft top, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. Service in May 2022 included servicing the ignition components, changing the oil, flushing the coolant, and recharging the air conditioning in addition to replacing the fuel pump, cooling fan switch, and an air-conditioning vent. This Series II XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with manufacturer’s literature, tools, removed parts, ownership records, a copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Connecticut title in the owner’s name.

The car was finished from the factory in Signal Red and was subsequently repainted in 1982. Features include a black Robbins soft top with a matching boot cover, a louvered clamshell hood, triple windshield wipers, dual exhaust outlets, a chrome left-side mirror, and wraparound chrome bumpers with overriders. There are paint touch-ups and a tear in the top.

Chrome 15″ wire-spoke wheels secured with branded continental knock-off nuts are wrapped in Pirelli P4000 tires. A full-size spare is stowed beneath the floor in the trunk. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers up front. Service in May 2022 included lubricating the front suspension, steering rack, tie rod ends, rear control arms, and the driveshaft.

The interior is said to have been reupholstered around 1984 and features black leather bucket seats with matching door panels and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a center console, seatbelts with replacement Kangol retractors, a locking glove box, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. One of the air conditioning vents was replaced in May 2022, and the system was evacuated and recharged at that time.

A three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 160-mph Smiths speedometer and a matching 6k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level that are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 11k of which were driven under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt in 2002 by North Coast Exotics of Cleveland, Ohio, with work including the installation of an SU triple-carburetor conversion kit along with 1967-vintage camshafts, and Series I polished aluminum valve covers. A Borla stainless-steel exhaust system was fitted around 2004. Service in May 2022 included changing the oil, flushing the coolant, cleaning and adjusting the points, cleaning and gapping the spark plugs, tightening the coolant hose clamps, and replacing the fuel pump and cooling fan switch. The seller notes a drip from the oil pan gasket.

The number 7R141189 stamped on the engine block matches the number recorded on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate and stamped on the chassis plate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate copy indicates a production date of August 17, 1970, distribution through British Leyland of New York, and the factory serial numbers and colors.

The car is accompanied by the factory Stromberg CD-2 carburetors and intake manifold along with additional removed parts including the valve covers, camshafts, exhaust components, seatbelt retractors, brake calipers, distributor, starter, and sun visors. Manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos, and records from current ownership are included in the sale.
