Ebay item 1/3/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $16,050.00 (Reserve not met), 6 bids, 6 days left in auction. VIN J712R14405

Sellers description:
Excellent low mileage example of this much sought model. 48,000 original, documented miles. Car looks and drives excellent with that tight feel that you can only get from an original low mileage vehicle. The original top was just replaced. The original leather seats and interior are in excellent condition. Car is unmolested and has all of its original equipment except the steering wheel has been replace with a signed "Nardi" replacement. A new 50 watt Pioneer stereo/CD player has just been installed but the original Phillips AM/FM radio is included in the sale (working fine). Airconditioning works great and blows cold with original Tecumseh compressor in place. Differential has been replaced with the optional European spec 3.07 ratio with full positraction. The car is once more capable of 150 miles per hour. Original chrome wire wheels have been replaced with new, stronger, Dayton chrome wire wheels and I have replaced the knock off hubs with the earlier eared version. Original safety knock offs, and tools, come with the car. The tires are nearly new, original equipment, Michelin red lines. The car is painted the original and correct "willow green" color which looks great and is extremely rare to find. The car was first sold in Los Angeles, California and has spent most of its life here. There is "absolutely" no rust anywhere on the body or chassis nor has there been any serious body damage in the past. This is the nicest, tightest, rattle free, XKE that I have ever driven.

Vehicle Condition
Car is an excellent, low mileage, example and is mechanically original except for shocks, wheels and tuning parts. I believe this car would drive anywhere if needed and do it very quickly. Air conditioning works great and engine is so powerful that you don't even notice the power drain. Gas mileage has been a fairly constant 22 mpg. Absolutely no overheating. Car drives smooth and effortlessly even over 100 mile per hour. Its one of those cars that the faster it goes the more stable it feels. One of my other cars is a new Mazda Miata special edition and the Jag will easily out handle the Miata on the curvy roads. It feels very safe and predictable near the limits of adhesion. I can certainly see why these cars were considered so state of the art when they were new. They still are to this day.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
