ON EBAY 1/28/07 OWNER WRITES:
1973 JAGUAR XKE 2+2 with 37,441 original documented, guaranteed miles.

1973 was the last year of the XKE coupe although convertibles were produced until 1975.

Only 5182 LHD (left hand drive) and 2115 RHD XKE Ser III " E" type coupes were produced in 3 years (between Oct.71 - Sep 73.)

This Jag sports a good looking Fern Grey (original color) paintjob with Moss Green interior with rare option A/C and automatic transmission. In the sunlight the color appears light gold.

Because of it’s extremely low miles and good condition, this ideal candidate for a mild restoration is worthy of it’s place in a car museum and or for slalom racing at Jaguar Club events or just going fast (145 mph in Montana)

It is a matter of record that nice restorations of the XKE V12 Coupes with low miles, air and automatic trans can bring in excess of 40K at Barret Jackson auctions.

The V12 engine and transmission at 37K miles are in their prime and work great.

The interior is in good condition with the exception of a wear spot at the driver’s seat back and the headliner having been removed.

The car has never been wrecked but has some minor dents, and scratches.

Close inspection shows evidence that the nose was bumped at the grille prior to the paint job. The grill surround chrome is missing due to this.

Tires are good and road worthy. The spare is still the original tire.

The rest of the chrome looks good.

The under carriage is solid although it does have a few bumps and bruises.

The paint job is OK and shiny but is not of show quality.

The original oil filter housing is included but not being used as it has been replaced with a spin on oil filter retrofit which makes changing the oil a lot easier and cheaper.

The rear hatch opens and locks good. A small bracket to limit the door travel is broken.

The original brake pads and rotors look good as they should for 37K miles of use.

The stock radio has been replaced with a Kenwood.

The rubber seals for the front end and the windows are marginal.

A minor rust spot on the driver side rear fender and some rust under the nose and front wheel wells are evident by close inspection.

Although the original Lucas magnetic trigger ignition system still works, it is boxed up and has been replaced with a Crane Fireball XR700 ignition system which is a popular and desirable retrofit that uses a light beam instead of magnetism for spark trigger. It is superior to the Lucas system and excellent for easy starting and reliability.

The knock-off type wire spoke wheels are in good shape although minor chrome flaking is evident.

I believe that for a 34 year old unrestored sports car it is extra ordinary good condition.

Although I did my best to accurately describe the condition of the car I’ll be happy to address any further questions.

Please call my cell phone (708) 297-4544 (Tom) as I am not able to retrieve my E-Mail frequently. Additional pictures can be E-Mailed.

The Jag is available for inspection in Homer Glen, IL (30 miles SW of Chicago)

Car has a buy it now price of $44,300 for 20 days. Car now said to be in Pinecrest, Florida.

Sellers description:
V12 Jaguar has had over 1 year in overall restoration at a specialty Jaguar Shop in North Miami, Fl which included (Complete rebuild of the engine/ transmission, brakes, suspension, air conditioning, etc. everything taken apart) therefore the mileage shown since (200 miles) for $ 33,784.00. Further, wheels, paint, interior Little is left to be a show car.

This is an opportunity for someone to have a finished car and enjoy it from here on. These V12 will appreciate in value and am letting it go for much less than the investment we have in the car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
