65,999 MILES, ON EBAY 05/08, SELLER WRITES: 1973 Jaguar XKE V12 One owner E-type
I am listing this extremely nice XKE V12 for the retired Beverly Hills architect who bought it new and had it wonderfully restored in the mid-'90's. Always a California car, he tells me it has never been driven out of the state. He still has the original owner's manual. It is in its original colors of Burgundy with a Biscuit leather interior, just the way it came from the factory. There is photo documentation of the bare metal respray. At the same time, the motor was removed from the chassis and rebuilt by a Jaguar specialist. A stainless steel exhaust system was fitted and all the proper labels were re-applied in the engine bay, door jambs, etc. The car has always been stored inside and never abused. Comes with a car cover.
The paint is in great shape with fantastic depth and gloss. The chrome was redone and still looks very good.Window and door seals are all pliable and in very good shape. The interior shows very little wear from its light use since restoration, and only the driver's floor mat would clue you in that this was not restored yesterday. This was a non-smoker's car, so even the ashtray is spectacular. The sale includes a new set of front rubber bumper overriders and the chrome strip for under the front bonnet. Later E-type owners know that the rubber overriders take the brunt of opening the bonnet.
It was recently serviced by rebuilding the carbs, flushing all liquids and hydraulics, and having the gas tank removed, cleaned and coated, so no rust in the gas tank ever! The A/C was not recharged due to the r12 freon, so that the new owner can convert it to modern freon. The horn does not function and appears to be the contact inside the steering column. Parts are available from E-type specialists.
In the photo of the right rear fender, there is a small scratch at the peak of the fender lip. Please note the great quality if the paint job, as you can see in its mirror-like finish the reflection of the camera man and his assistant! In the photo of the driver's seat, you can just make out the discoloration on the seat from where the shoulder belt has rubbed. The seat facings show almost no signs of wear. The headliner is in great condition and I bet no one has ever sat in the rear seat.
Please ask questions and the car can be made available for inspection by appointment. It is located in the Long Beach area of California.
