# Excellent condition, full body restoration carried out by previous owner all chrome and glass removed, new rubber seals fitted.
# New front & rear engine main seals replaced recently, this is the main weakness of the V12 engine as the original seals were a mixture of string & Grafoil and would leak due to lack of use as the seals would contract, these cars are designed to be driven.

# This Coupe is in execellent condition both mechanically & cosmetically good Manual early series 3 cars are becoming harder to find, feature the more attractive bumpers, (the rubber overiders fitted in 1974 are a major investment to replace as they are a integral part of the hood asembly) and have the functionallity of a practical classic.

Offered for sale is this very nice 1972 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe. This car is in very nice condition throughout and fully sorted. The car is finished in Old English White with Russet Red Leather interior. The car has been the benefactor of a full body restoration some years ago. Within the past 5 years, a complete portfolio of service has been performed. Many tasteful upgrades have been made as well. The front brakes have been upgraded to Wilwood calipers and drilled rotors, new brake lines, polyurethane bushings, K&N air filters, aluminum radiator, new Koni's all around, all new coolant hoses, plugs, wires, ignition, AC compressor, tires, and much more. The paint shows very well with a few very small flaws from use. The brightwork is very good. The wheels are very good. The interior is very nice overall. The dash and instrumentation is excellent. The seating leather is very nice as well as the carpets. The cars engine runs fantastic. The engine is dry, smooth, and does not smoke. The car drives great and everything works well, and in many aspects, better than original. The car is available in Port St. Lucie, FL for inspection by appointment.

Car returns to ebay 4/10/20

www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Jaguar-E-Type/233553153624

Current bid: $12,600 reserve not met 6 bids seller cogh 71k miles, car now said to be in Federal Way, Washington.

Seller's description:

Done in original Old English White with Red/Mulberry interior, this car is powered by a Jaguar V12 engine matched to it's original 4 speed manual transmission.

This big cat comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Manufactured in the UK in February 1972 it was imported into the USA by British Leyland in March 1972.

The car is rust free and solid. There are a few (very few) minor paint imperfections, but it presents well and looks beautiful. The chrome is bright and clear. The windows and glass look to be original, but I can't be certain.

The original leather seats have a distinguished look with no obvious signs of wear and are in good condition.

The interior surfaces and carpeting has recently been replaced with Wilton Wool carpets and vinyl from the UK. At that time additional sound proofing was also added.

The radio has been replaced with a Retro-Sound look-alike, but the original radio is included if you want to put it back into place.

New seat belts were installed as well, but again, the original belts and re-tractors are included if you want to refurbish them and reinstall.

This E-Type was fully serviced in August of 2019. This included oil change, new plugs, wiring, distributor cap, exhaust manifold gaskets.

The carburetors were tuned and dialed in June of 2019. A new Bosch battery was also added in August.

The wipers, headlamps, map light, interior light, turn signals, flashers, heater/fan all work.

The dash and instrument lights all work and have been upgraded to LED.

The ignition buzzer and the seat belt buzzer do not work. They are not hooked up and that's fine with me. I don't know if they are operational, but consider them non-working.

In August, as part of the service, the factory AC was completely reworked and charged. It blows strong and icy cold.

The rear window defrosting heater is not hooked up. The previous owner lived in Palm Springs and wired the rear window defroster switch to the engine auxiliary fan. This allows you to turn the engine fan on as desired. I live in a northern climate and haven't seen ANY heating or cooling problems, but having been to Palm Springs, I can see why the PO wanted this feature. I like this option and have kept it in place. It looks like a simple matter to hook the defroster up at the fuse box if you'd prefer.

The wire wheels look terrific and the Dunlop tires are practically new, including the spare!

It takes a while from a cold start to get the V12 beast up to temp, but once there, the engine runs great and purrs and growls as it should.

There's a bit of 'blue smoke' when the car starts after sitting for awhile, but it quickly dissipates. I've been told by two Jag mechanics this is not a cause for alarm and normal for a car of this age. It's nothing I'm worried about, but I want to be completely transparent and up front. When last serviced a compression check was done on all 12 cylinders and all came back strong and well within acceptable limits.

The car drives beautifully and the engine pulls strong. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, up and down. It's always fun to watch the heads of other drivers or pedestrians swivel when this car drives by. It is striking to look at and always attracts attention.

The owners manual, jack set, spare wheel and tire, two sets of keys and some miscellaneous other parts are also included.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
