Lot #150749

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and has since been refurbished, including a repaint in Pale Primrose, overhauls of the cooling system, ignition system, and carburetors, and replacement of the fuel tank, alternator, exhaust system, and tires. The car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and it features LED lighting, a Ford steering rack conversion, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a CD stereo. This Series III E-Type is now offered in Connecticut on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment records, and a clean Massachusetts title.

The car was finished from the factory in Pale Primrose and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment in 2017. LED exterior lights were added at that time, and additional features include uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, pop-out rear quarter windows, and an antenna.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Michelin tires measuring 205/70. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and a Mercury Cougar steering rack was installed during the refurbishment, along with Koni shocks and replacement springs. The four-wheel disc brakes system was also refreshed at that time.

The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a reach bench upholstered in tan leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. A CD stereo has been installed. The air conditioning compressor was replaced during the refurbishment, though the system is inoperative.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 5,300 of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were rebuilt and modified in 2017, at which time a replacement stainless-steel exhaust system, an upgraded alternator, a gear reduction starter, and an SNG Barratt ignition kit were installed. The fuel tank was also replaced, and the cooling system was overhauled with an aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, a Wolfgang fan shroud kit, a rebuilt water pump, and replacement lines and hoses. Emissions controls were disabled.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The rear end was rebuilt and the transmission mount repaired during the refurbishment. The clutch slave cylinder was replaced in 2021.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of December 6, 1971.
