Car listed on EBay:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Description

Jaguar : XKE

1972 SERIES III V12 E-TYPE 2+2

Miles: 29400 Doors: 2 doors

Transmission: Manual Interior: Beige/Tan

Engine: 12 - Cyl. Year: 1972

Exterior: Burgundy/Maroon

Vehicle Description: On offer is my 1972 Jaguar E-type V12 2+2 which I purchased at Miami’s first Kruse Classic Car Auction on November 1st 1997. This almost 150mph car is the most desirable of the E-types, the Series III made from 1971 to 1974, with the 5.7 Litre V12 Cylinder Engine and the last with the small, rubber-faced overriders on the bumpers. Because of changing US Regulations, later cars had the large protruding type which totally spoiled the beautiful lines of the body. I bought it because it was an original unspoilt car, everything was correct except for the double-ended SU fuel pump, which had been replaced by a solid state, in-line contactless unit. I have been carrying out a running restoration since I bought the car, checking through all systems and renewing or replacing where necessary. The original Lucas Opus Electronic Ignition System can prove troublesome, I replaced it with a modern optical trigger unit. Other new items include an Ignition Switch, a number of the Relays, Ignition Coil, Vacuum Ignition Retard Unit, Ballast Resistor, Brake Pads, Clutch Slave Cylinder, Headliner, Various Trim Chrome Parts, etc, etc. I have spent over $4000 on parts from specialists both here and in UK, many of these are on the car, others will be available to the winning bidder at attractive prices. The car now runs as it should, with Factory Wire Wheels, Pirelli Tyres with 60% tread and Manual Transmission. It has Factory Air Conditioning which worked fine for the first 3 years but has ceased to cool. I suspect a leaky hose. There is very little rust, the steel hood is fine, the floor in front of each seat was thin, the drivers side was repaired, the passenger side is still to do. The interior beige hide is original, the rear seat is good, the front seats are dry with some splitting. I have fitted beige seat covers on the front which are very tidy. I intended to complete the work but will soon be relocating and bringing 2 other Classic Cars from England so have to part with it. I have driven only 650 miles in it since 1997 and it has always been garaged. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding, the winning bidder buys the car and no warranty is implied or given, as is usual. The car is located in Homestead, Florida, Zip Code 33033.

Vehicle Condition: Good running condition with excellent appearance and always lots of public admiration!

Car only got one bid to a figure of US $12,000.00 (Reserve not met)

Car has a buy it now price of $59,000 for 6 days seller spencer2900, car now said to be in Manheim, Pennsylvania, 34k miles.

Seller's description:

Beautiful Jaguar with just 34000 original miles. The car was treated to one professional repaint about 10 yrs ago and still looks great. The interior looks excellent with minimal wear. optional wire wheels are nice with tires being practically new. The original matching # V12 runs nice and quite and the 4 speed tranny shifts good. I encourage a call for serious buyers to get a more detailed description. Clean, clear title.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
