Current bid US $10,200.96 reserve not met 2 bids 6 days left in auction. 76k miles.

Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar XKE V12 coupe 4sp with air conditioning. Sable exterior with biscuit leather interior. Overall good condition interior and exterior. Original condition XKE V12 with A/C. Front seats are in excellent condition, rear show wear with a visible hole seen in pic. Dash does have some cracks, which can be easily replaced. The engine has relatively low miles, only 76182, and runs excellent. Choke needs to be adjusted, hard starting. Once warmed up it's fine. Paint is good at a distance, but could be buffed out. Will need a set of tires.

Lot 22 at the inaugural Berlinetta Classic Car Auction near Bicester on Sunday, 8 May 2016. Sold for £52,855. Catalogue description:

The Jaguar Heritage certificate held on file confirms this series 3 E Type to be 1,536 of 5,183 produced in left hand drive fixed head configuration between 1971 and 1974. Manufactured on 21 May 1971 this E was dispatched to British Leyland New York on 11 June. Importantly this early production model is not compromised by a lower compression engine and the somewhat ugly impact bumpers that later examples favoured. US specification headrests are a welcome feature as is the rare factory fitted air conditioning.

On its return to the UK in 2015 this highly original Jaguar was treated to a comprehensive restoration and refurbishment programme by respected model specialists Lanes Cars. This car was extensively stripped and the bodywork taken back to the bare metal. New bulkhead panels and full floors were fitted and following careful panel alignment the body shell and new engine sub-frame were repainted to a high standard. The engine and manual gearbox were stripped, inspected and rebuilt while a Lanes 'speed hump' friendly exhaust was fitted along with an uprated electronic ignition system, while the running gear was rebuilt with new brushes etc.

The E's interior was in nice condition and though treated to a new set of matching carpets and headlining, a Jaguar trim specialist was tasked with bringing the original leather seats back to life through a process of careful cleaning and feeding; the result is a finely judged combination of new and original components.

The fastidious owner was determined to retain the car's original specification and achingly period colour scheme of sable paintwork complimented by beige interior trim and the car now looks resplendent in this livery. With near perfect panel gaps and shut lines, the car presents remarkably well and the floor pans are worthy of particular scrutiny inside and out.

The apparent quality of the bodywork restoration is supported by an extensive photographic record and we recommend close inspection of this in the car's file. Further photographic evidence of the work carried out is provided on a memory stick. An MOT certificate is present while the car is road tax exempt and ready to be further enjoyed. This E Type is freshly restored and has never been exposed to rain or salt.

Sold by Arun Independent Jaguar and Performance Car Dealers of Pulborough in November 2016. Seller's description runs; The Jaguar Heritage certificate held on file confirms this series 3 FHC to be the 1,536th of a total of 5,183 produced in left hand drive configuration. The car was extensively stripped and the bodywork taken back to bare metal. New bulkhead panels and full floors were fitted and following careful panel alignment the body shell and new engine sub frame were repainted to a very high standard in the original colour of sable.

The engine and manual gearbox were stripped , inspected and rebuilt and stainless steel exhaust system fitted along with an uprated electronic ignition system, while the running gear was built with new brushes etc. The E Type's interior was in nice original condition and though treated to a new set of matching carpets and headlining, a Jaguar trim specialist was tasked with bringing the original leather seats back to life through a process of careful cleaning and feeding: the result is a finely judged combination of new and original components.

We have found the series 3 E Type to be in high demand of late, this due to its usability and lower acquisition costs. These are good value and will continue to perform as an investment opportunity.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
