47,310 MILES, ON EBAY 03/08, SELLER WRITES: You are bidding on a low mileage, low owner 1971 Jaguar XKE V12 Coupe with Manual Transmission and Air Conditioning. It is in very good original and appropriately restored condition. Of all the coupe years to own, the 1971 V12’s are arguably the best and currently some of the most sought after. You get all of the refined performance of the V12 (with a manual transmission) and don’t yet have the obtrusive bumper overriders like on later years. This is an older restoration from over 10 years ago. The restoration work was predominantly cosmetic. Due to the low mileage, there was not significant mechanical work to be performed at the time.
This particular XKE is a beautiful and highly desirable British Racing Green over Tan interior. This is probably the most desirable color combination for the true British Sports Car Enthusiast. The car was painted at the time of the restoration in it’s original color. Outside of a rogue chip or scratch, the paint remains in outstanding and essentially show quality condition.
Comes fitted with all of the desired factory options like chrome wire wheels, A/C and of course a manual transmission. It has four brand new size 185 R15 91S “Redline” tires and still retains the original Dunlop SP Sport VR15 tire on the spare. Of course it includes the original jack/ crank and wire wheel knock-off wrench as well as all original documentation (owners manual, service book, parts catalogs and service documentation).
Mechanically this car is in very good condition, due in part to the relatively low miles as well as regular maintenance activities along the way. In fact, the 4 factory Stromberg carburetors were recently professionally rebuilt and are likely now better than when new. Runs and drives out extremely well with everything working as it should. The engine is very strong, holds perfect oil pressure and sounds great, like only that Jaguar V12 can. Has recently received a complete tune-up and is certainly ready for the road.
As you can see in the photos, the complete interior (carpeting, seats, door panels, dash, door seals, trunk trim, etc.) are all in very good or currently serviceable condition. Only visible flaw in the interior is a minor crack in the dash pad on the passenger side. Chrome and glass are all in very good condition with no scratches or chips to speak of. Included as well is a car cover (not shown in the photos) and a good set of Jaguar logo mats for additional protection.
