Background and Provenance
A decorated Jaguar with pedigree. What sets this 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series III apart isn’t just its elegant lines or thundering 5.3-litre V12 engine, it’s the depth of care, history and awards behind it.

This is not just another E-Type. This is a celebrated example with the history, paperwork and condition to justify serious consideration.
Mechanicals
Driving pleasure meets engineering brilliance. The Series III V12 was created to give Jaguar’s classic E-Type, long-legged touring ability. This Jaguar takes that a step further with intelligent upgrades and careful maintenance.
5.3 Litre V12 engine – torquey, smooth and truly evocative
Upgraded 5-Speed Getrag manual gearbox
Our vendor says this transforms the drive with effortless motorway cruising
“The 5 speed Getrag gearbox makes it drive like a modern car. It will cruise all day in 5th gear at 70 MPH plus. There’s no movement in the steering. It drives like a new car and defies it’s years. But it’s 55 years old, remember
New brake servo
Steering and suspension components are tight and precise
Annual servicing since current ownership began in 2020
Maintained for real-world usability, with journeys over 100 miles proving faultless
Our vendor shared this practical, helpful, real-world view of what this E-type is like and what it is like to own.
“The one thing I would say though, it’s a 5.3 Litre car and needs driving regularly or it gets a bit lumpy. When I drive it weekly, it never misses a beat. When I leave it for a month or so at a time, it takes 10 minutes or so to get firing on all 12 cylinders (Hence the lumpy description). It starts on the choke without much effort. It’s been kept in a warm, dry garage during my ownership, and only driven on rain free days on salt free roads. I’ve done journeys in excess of a hundred or so miles without fault”.
With its Getrag 5-speed and well-tuned V12, this E-Type drives as impressively as it looks. Classic charm meets modern capability. Our vendor has also advised that the E-Type will come with a fresh MOT.
Exterior
Breathtaking from every angle. They say looks can be deceiving. Not here. This E-Type’s Indigo Blue bodywork is exceptional, with good panel alignment and radiant paintwork that dazzles in the sun.
Resplendent in Indigo Blue, deep, rich, and elegant
Bodywork is “nigh on perfect” according to our vendor
Panels, doors, and sills show attention to fit and finish
Chrome work and trim in excellent order
Wheels and tyres all in good condition
Always stored in a dry, warm garage and only used on salt-free roads
Visually, this Series III sits in the upper echelon of E-Types. It’s a show winner—and it looks every bit the part.
Interior
Bespoke luxury meets concours quality. Inside is where this E-Type truly stands apart. The Bentley Red leather interior, fitted by renowned specialists Aldridge Trimmers, adds a touch of bespoke class that elevates this car far above the average.
Full retrim in Red Bentley leather
Still immaculate nearly 15 years later
Period-correct and tastefully upgraded for a lux-experience
New headlining
Original dials, operating handbook, wiring diagram, and service folder included
Jaguar club magazines and documentation featuring the car supplied with sale
Jaguar World magazine did a “Specialist Spotlight” showing the car at Aldridge trimmers. This was when the interior was fitted out in a Red Bentley Leather.
Our vendor describes the interior as “Still unmarked nearly 15 years later”. He continues, “At today’s price to get the same job done would be far in excess of £12,000. The original invoice is supplied with car’s paperwork for close to £6,000 in 2010”.
The interior condition is very good, mixing rich originality with discreet, high-end upgrades.
