This 1971 Jaguar XKE 2+2 V12 is finished in gray over black upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes chrome 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, chrome bumpers with overriders, front and rear nudge bars, and a heater. The seller acquired the car in April 2020, and service in 2022 is said to have included overhauling the carburetors, repairing and adjusting the handbrake mechanism, and replacing the starter motor, tie rods, and power steering rack assembly and hoses. This Series III XKE is offered with manufacturer’s literature, related magazines, service records, and a clean Connecticut title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in gray and is said to have been repainted during previous ownership. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, front and rear nudge bars, a driver-side mirror, venting rear quarter windows, a side-hinged rear hatch, “V12” badging, and quad exhaust outlets. Paint cracks, chips, scratches, and areas of corrosion are visible.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are mounted with chrome wheel bolts and wear 205/70 Pirelli P400 tires that show date codes from 2004. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Service in 2022 is said to have included repairing and adjusting the handbrake mechanism in addition to replacement of the steering rack and mounts, power steering hoses, and inner and outer tie rods.
The cabin features seating for four trimmed in black upholstery with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include three-point front seat belts, black Jaguar-branded rubber floor mats, and hand-crank side windows. The seller states that the air conditioning system, glove compartment lock, clock, and map and dome lights are inoperable. Wear and corrosion are noted on dash switches and interior trim, and cracking is present on the dash.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates 22k miles, less than 500 of which have been added by the seller. True mileage is unknown, and the seller states that the turn signals do not self-cancel.
The aluminum 5.3-liter V12 features four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that are said to have been overhauled during a March 2022 service. Corrosion is noted on surfaces in the engine compartment.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a bearing noise is audible from the transmission, and corrosion and sheetmetal repairs are present on the underside.
Documentation accompanying the car includes manufactures literature, related magazines, and service records.
